Can you play the demo online at all? Would be useful to see if my speeds were any better (have upgraded my router firmware in case that helps)

Original demo you couldn't and I'd doubt you could with this one.

Tell you what, drop me an email with your address in. When it's out you can borrow my disc, play a couple of the guys online then return it. Better than spending £18 on it and risking the same problems.

Deadly dam the dam dam man, there is a new PC demo out, which is said to be much more responsive...I don't think we will truly know how the final game plays till the day we all install it and then have a marathon circle-jerk in celebration

Just been playing this demo now and seen something I haven't seen yet. Got to 'Half Time/End of time' in the demo and it flashed up saying an injury had been discovered on Damien Duff thus gaining him a yellow arrow outside of the actual game action. I'd fouled him about 5 mins before the break so he must have picked it up then so its getting closer towards realism!

I can't wait 'til that day :luv:

Evo webbers are certainly adamant the gameplay has changed. It's a bit strange though considering it should just be a port of the PS2 version.

Well PC version of course! :D

You already have a large set of opponents right here. And the router issues are just down to port forwarding. To play Pro Evo 4 online, you need to forward ports otherwise it won't work. If it was a problem in Pro Evo 5, then we'd get it sorted very, very quickly for you

Port forwarding issues should not be a problem. Will be getting the PC version and one of those PS2 -> PC joypad dongles, need one for a few other games too...

so is a ps2 pad the best way to play this on the PC ?

Bolch
05-10-2005, 21:56
It's the way most of us league players play and have no complaints.

There's a couple use PC Joypads, 1 that uses an xbox pad and 1 that uses an N64 pad  but they're in the minority.

unrealnils

I love that pad and golden eye but on pro evo ?

LouBarlow

OK Ta

I presume it didn't unistall 4, which was my worry?

Bolch
06-10-2005, 14:13
No it leaves 4 alone :D

LouBarlow
06-10-2005, 14:16
OK im well confused - people are saying this is faster, but it's way slower than 4 I think, and ball movement is very slow in comparison.

Good to see they have improved the physics of the goal nets though :dork:

bigjonnyauk
06-10-2005, 14:43
AGREE WITH YOU THERE LOU pace seems slower but seems like you have to put more thought into the pasing and deffo the tackling also with crosses no more auto crossing if you dont get the angle right say goodbye to it in row z

and yeah the way the net buldges is incredible im lliking the gfx a lot also the gameplay this time ref seems nicer

if they get the online stuff spot on could be a great year for this one on pc

but something in the back of my mind says its all going to well with it lol

I know Valencia are supposed to be good, but they are a complete joke when playing against another good team, lots of tripping over etc etc, was like playing with Espanyol in my first league.
Won't be bothering with PES5

EDIT: The game last night had zero enjoyment in it for me so i couldn't see the point in continuing. Played hornsteve and others before and been well beaten, but i enjoyed those games because i had a good team. I was so ****** off afterwards and it just isn't worth that just for a game, so ill stick to shooting people instead  (virtually of course)

Strange Lou-brication. It plays a lot faster than 4 for me. How does the speed compare to the PS2 version of WE9 or PES5?

I havent play PES5 PS2 and haven't played W11.9 for a while either so can't remember.

Have to say I prefer the ball physics of 4 where you could really fire shots in at a pace - the ball seems on a string in 5 to me :(

Weird weird stuff. I thought the shooting in 4 always felt floaty (again compared to the console versions) yet this is spot on.

LouBarlow

lol I must have downloaded the wrong game or something - might have been Fifa

The ball seems more floaty/balloony here for me, but I never played the console games religiously like I have with PC PES4 so perhaps I've become accustomed to it or someink.

Think damell already mentioned that the PC version got 93% in PCZone magazine (PES4 got 89%).

The review is spot on - they talk about how much more difficult it is to score from the good ole double tap cross and also in general; the initial frustration at the seemingly over zealous refereeing and how, once you get over it, you love the game more for it.

They bascially say that you have to virtually "unlearn what you have learned" from PES4

They also confirmed the 4 player online mode

Negative points? Well nothing major: "Can be initially frustrating. Tough on beginners". :D

Can't wait.

Ono

Oooh, they also show this scenario:

Player gets injured in a tackle and goes down. Play continues but you see the guy down so you boot the ball into play. Guy receives treatment.

Play resumes, CPU takes throw-in to one of his players who then boots the ball back to the opposing keeper. Fantastic:

Dunno if that will be replicated in our online matches :suspect: but, as that well known website says - Try doing that in Fifa!! :D

john316

I'm sure we'll get plenty of opportunities in your games though Ono - I'm sure the foul count will still be close to hitting triple figure amounts in PES 5? :D

Cockeye

Oh, I scored a goal on the second demo just now the likes of which I've never scored in number four.

Joe Cole breaks free down the right, putsin a cross. Robben (on red up arrow) is unmarked in the box. Instead of trying to head he calmly stands, composes himself and unleashes an unstoppable volley plum into the top right corner of the goal.

Wish you could save replays! :(

I read on evo-web that there is a similar scenario, but the ref does a drop ball and they kick it back.
