Is Emanuelle in America on Red Edition in Germany the same film as Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals coming out on Italia Shock.

Or are they 2 different films?

They're definitely two different films even though both were directed around the same time by Joe D'Amato and both starred Laura Gemser who made several unofficial "Emanuelle" movies in the late 70s.

"Stonevision, who had previously released the uncut disc of Zombi Holocaust, have submitted Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (taken from Variety Communication's master) to the BBFC. Extras are in progress with Laura Gemser (fingers crossed after we convinced her to assist in the C4 docu on Emmanuelle/Emanuelle). Also, a taped and very raw interview was filmed with Massaccesi before he passed away by a small number of UK journos and fanzine writers."

www.dvd.it has some of the 'Emmanuelle' films,but i couldn't say whether they are cut.Also www.dvdit.oop.it has some.

Has anyone else seen "Emanuelle in America" ? It's a truly bizarre film. Soft-core encounters between Laura Gemser and an array of unshaven Spaghetti-Western rejects, hard core inserts of deeply unerotic fellatio and relatively brief penetration (none of these involving Ms.Gemser), the usual horse masturbation that Massacessi is so fond of, and then some nasty but mercifully scratchy faked "snuff" sequences in order to give the film some semblance of momentum towards the end. Admittedly the copy I watched was in French with no subtitles but I don't think I missed any subtleties of the plot. All in all, about as much of a turn-on as your average "Confessions" movie.

Fans of this might want to check out Joe's later "Caligula 2: The Untold Story" which is truly delirious. It's not so much bad as unbelievably appalling and is therefore rather good on a certain level.

On second thoughts, is anyone else remotely interested ?

Of the 5 Emmanuelle films recently released in the UK by Momentum (1-4) and Columbia (5) -



Emmanuelle is cut by 38 secs and I'm not sure the ratio (1.66:1 anamorphic) is correct.

Emmanuelle 2 is uncut and 2.35:1 anamorphic.

Goodbye Emmanuelle is uncut and 2.35:1 anamorphic.

Emmanuelle IV is uncut and 1.66:1 anamorphic.

Emmanuelle 5 is cut by 45 secs and panned and scanned.



Picture quality on Emmanuelle 2, 3 & 4 is excellent and you can choose an English soundtrack or the original French with English subtitles.

Thanks for the info but I'm guessing these cuts details are based on info from the BBFC website? It's likely that the films were submitted already self-censored by the film company because they new they couldn't show anything hardcore, so what I'm really looking for is information on weather these films were even filmed as anything other than softcore, and if so, if they were released anywhere.

Well, yeah the information is from the BBFC but Goodbye Emmanuelle has never been cut (it's pretty tame stuff) and Emmanuelle 2 and 4 are both listed as "previous cuts waived".

There was never that much cut in the first place. Emmanuelle 1 - 4 were "respectable" softcore movies, there's no question of there being any hardcore footage. The later, straight to video ones I don't know about. The cuts from the original Emmanuelle are not for sexual explicitness, they're to a scene where Emmanuelle is taken by force and enjoys it, a big no-no with the BBFC.

I'm still doubtful I'm afraid as at least one of the early ones WAS hardcore. I can't remember which one, but there's a point in it where if you pause the film (I was a sweaty teen when I discovered this :nuts: ) the cutting is a couple of frames out and you can see that the female character is REALLY performing oral sex on her mail partner.

Well there were about a million "Emmanuelle" films in the 70s and 80s. Are you sure it was one of the official, Sylvia Kristel ones? You know what watching films like that can do to your eyesight.
