The widescreen is more expensive and has DD which I dont need.

Am I correct in thinking that basically for all intensive purposes that apart from the TV shape.

The image quality and 16x9 size are going to be very, very similar?

Thanks

the image quality should be similar. The 4:3 43 inch has a 16:9 size of about 39 inches, whereas the 16:9 42 inch is ... wait, let me work it out ... 42 inches. :)

It's up to you whether you feel 3 inches is worth the extra money, but the widescreen is 100Hz and will have component input as well.

The 43VJ13P does have component inputs, not that my current DVD player has component out. :( However it is 50Hz as trooper says.

ColinD another factor to consider is the size of the 4:3 image. On the 4:3 set this is a whopping 43 inches, the 16:9 will be a lot smaller (too lazy to do the maths, but I reckon about 30in). So if you watch a lot of 4:3 digital broadcasts (such as Sky 1, Disney etc) the 4:3 might be best, since the widescreen image is only a little smaller.

So I guess you pays your money and you takes your choice - I suspect you'll be chuffed with either set. :D
