Looks like the new motherboard and my trusty old sblive platinum sound card do not like each other. Sometimes I so hate pc's

Just had to replace motherboard on a pc, all devices are being detected but it will not progress to the stage where it should be stating "non system disk". The pc will not boot from CD-Rom either and just sits after it list the master and slave devices.

I'm using a ASUS P4S800 SiS648FX motherboard I have never come across this problem before. I've tried changing HDD cables etc nothing appears to work. Checked the boot order in the bios, what am I missing? :brickwall

Does it stop at the same spot with the disks removed?

Take out any unneeded PCI cards or USB devices that are plugged in and see if that cures the problem

How big are the HD's??? I rebuilt my second machine last night which had a 200gb C: drive. I created a partioin of 200gb and it did the file copy ok but refused to boot after the file copy part of the setup.

Turned out to be it didnt like all 200gb of the drive being available at boot time. I did it again with a C: drive of 50gb and it was fine.

Well I've done a search in google on the asus p4s800 and discovered that I am not the only one whose had issues with the sblive audigy and the p4s800, this is why i know longer build pc's I cannot believe that these incompatibilities between components still exist!

The joke is the previous mother board was an asus p4s333 and it worked fine for years till my bro fried the board with his static filled body. I've disabled the on board sound and tried various pci slots but as soon as the os tries to load it hangs!
