What moments on dvd do you just have to turn away from. It could be in pain, disgust, disbelief, or all of wild wild west and dude wheres my car?

For me, it has to be the torture sequence in audition. OUCH!

Agree with Casino that was pretty grim. The other that has made me at least wince is Battle Royale The girl stabbing the guys in the nads:eek: OUCH!!!

On a different vein I just can't watch the bit in "Housesitter" where Steve Martin has to sing to his Dad.

I just cringe with embarrasment every time I see it.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - the whole film's an absolute hoot, but the sledgehammer at the door. Ooh, that just turns my stomach. :(

I cant stand needles, so any scene featuring injections gets me cringing...trainspotting is a particularly bad offender from memory, although there are many others....

then of course there is the like of Pearl Habor and Titanic in their entirety, anal excriment at its very worst, two abominations of modern cinema that just painful to watch.

yeah, american history x makes me cringe, although i can just about watch it, and also, reservoir dogs. I'd heard so much about the ear-cutting off scene, so I got really scared, but watched it, and it wasn't that bad :) although it still was pretty bad :)

I can just about stand the coffee moment in Austin Powers - The spy who... but was thankful for the delights of the DVD skip feature when showing it to my inlaws...

I have to go with utero and THAT scene in Amercian History X and I'm not to fond of the scene near the end of Apocalypse Now with the buffalo type animal.

A certain scene in Cries and Whispers involving (intentionally) sitting on a broken wine glass.

Robby

I don't think there was a single person in the cinema who didn't wince or yelp in sympathy when Mel Gibson got his toes smashed with a hammer in Payback.

OK, got a couple - most mentioned already:

Apocalypse Now - Cow scene
American History X - Pavement scene

Any physical abuse to women or children (No matter how well shot)

Any "rape" scenes - Strange Days was quite bad.

Not a film scene, but that woman doing "Bjork" on celebrity Stars In Their Eyes - now that did make me cringe

:D

The bit in the middle of Toy Story 2 where Jessie starts singing about how she was abandoned. It's the kind of sludge Disney used to put in in the 80s and it is the only tripe moment in a cracking film. I nearly threw up into my popcorn when I had to sit through it at the cinema.

I have to agree with Skye_Storm - The torture bit in Audition
I've seen plenty of gory scenes before and am not that squeamish but JESUS!, that scarred me and I dont ever want to watch the film again because of that bit.

Every single moment of Drew Barrymore's performance in Never Been Kissed, quite possibly the most embarassingly bad acting I've ever sat through. And I've seen Mariah Carey in Glitter!

Are you serious ? Each to his own, obviously, but I'm genuinely surprised to hear this. I think it's so incredibly moving, and, moreover, so central to the underlying emotional bite of both films that I don't see how a viewer could buy into the notion of toys registering - and then debating in TS2! - whether it's best to stay with their loving owners or desert them in order to avoid the inevitable later abandonment and upset ! Plus, for me at any rate, sarah McLachlan could sing a phone book and it would probably touch me on some level !

1. Every time the kid in the Phantom Menace shouts 'Yippee!' whenever he does something.

2. The deleted scene on the Phantom Menace dvd with the kid saying goodbye to the old woman. Possibly the worst performance by a child 'actor' in film history.
