Can't see it being possible to carry on with multiple tournaments now, as it is going to be pretty tricky to coordinate.

Unless maybe using different coloured fonts for different tourney results?

Seems a bit harsh anyway, as the general forum gets more than it's fair share of, frankly, **** topics that waste far more bandwith than our one extra gaming thread?

Oh well, whatcha gonna do?

P.S Welcome back big Bolchy!

Maybe you could set up the first post with a direct link to a search for either the World Cup threads and League threads.
Though that will mean all members will have to put a keyword in either of their posts that register on the search?

Also, welcome back to reality Bolch, hope you enjoyed Florida (Im off again in September)!

How about if you disagree with something you post something slightly more constructive. We've had a chat and we'll set up a sub forum for these threads - but if it turns into a massive padders paradise it'll be shut down.

You got something 'slightly more constructive' with a genuine option on how to proceed. Frankly I'm just grateful that we are allowed to organise these tournaments on here, and my comment was merely reflecting what I saw as an over-reaction to a falling-out in another thread, rather than a genuine complaint.

I'm sure it could have been allowed to let slide for a week or so though, so we could have finished those tournaments in progress, but as I mentioned before - grateful for being here :)

Can you not turn off post-counts in the possible new forum, to disuade padding (which I don't believe truly goes on in out threads anyway tbh...)

I'll try and think of some more constructive ideas and I'll get back to you

This is much better

I can see how the PES4 threads were taking over the whole Gaming forum. Maybe this PES forum could be expanded to cover all online games competitions so that the Gaming forum can be used just to discuss new games, consoles, hints/tips etc.

That may be an option if other tournament threads begin to fill the gap

Constructive comments are also appreciated

Will do a random team draw tomorrow night. Teams will be from mixed countries giving an even balance of teams throughout each league.

mmmmmmmmmmmm my name seems to be popping up a fair bit on here lol

i think the way you are doing the distribution this season is superb well done no moans here lol

also i will check with my 8 year old lad or as he is now known babyjonnyauk to make sure 100 per cent he still wants to play but need to clarify a couple of points

a can i sign up another account from here in his name and also with him being only 8 is he even old enough to join these forums lol

b are all players in the league he will be in ok with the times he will be able to play mainly going to be weekends

c do you want some proof of him existing (i dont want you guys thinking im being greedy and trying to get 2 teams on the go lol

@bolch i notice you said you would listen to suggestions heres one

as per norm assign a league to each division but the 3 that went up get first pick then the rest in order they finished in league then the 3 that came down in order therefore should give a good balance of teams and skill level it is only a suggestion but might be worth looking at

As a side point, what ever happen to the wefa ratings?

Bolch
18-07-2005, 07:10
As a side point, what ever happen to the wefa ratings?

Decided not to update them with people joining/leaving all the time as they wouldn't give a fair indication.

Jabra: Won't start any leagues until WC is over. (1/2 weeks?)

Jonny: Yes, They'll have to accomodate, No.

Decided to keep the team distribution as a random draw, in the past we've allowed people to select teams and it's taken ages waiting for people to post. Then people moan that there's no good teams left. Doing it this way the teams are fairly even in the league so no room for moaning.

dazkelly
18-07-2005, 08:53
So have I got this right?

This season the teams will be a variety of teams from different countries, not the single country format of previous seasons. If this is the case, will it be that there is a list of about 10 or 11 teams which will be used for all 4 divs, assigned randomly?

Art Vanderlay

Welcome back Bolch

I'm away for a week 24 July - 31 July. I assume the league won't start until after that? If it does begin earlier, then I should be able to catch up fairly quickly as I have an extra week off work lounging around at home :)

Almost.

The top 10/11 teams will be assigned at Random to Div 3. The next 10/11 teams at random to Div 2, and then repeat so in theory whoever gets drawn last in the Premiership will have the 40th best team in the game.

We could use the same 10/11 teams for all divisions but no doubt everyone's played with these teams at some point. Part of the fun here is the fact we're using teams we've never used before or using a team we would never pick and finding out that teams strengths/weaknesses.

Art: No probs. Leagues won't start until WC is over and I allow leeway for holidays (after all I'm away for another 5 days in August :D )

Who are better, Athletico or VFB Stuttgart?

IMHO There isn't a definitive answer to that. It depends which team suits your playing style best, or wether you can adopt they're style easier. You'd have to play a couple of games with both teams to see which you prefer.

Matt.Wild
19-07-2005, 11:22
I tend to play a fast attacking style with plenty of wing play and chipped balls over the top with a set of nippy CF’s to cotton on to them and smash ‘em home. Best form of defence is attack IMO

That is, unless I am an appalling team (see BMG or AZ :D) in which I sit back and counter attack :)

Any help using that suggestion?

Problem is I don't know how to cross - well I know how to press the button but can't make it go where I want - so koller in 3 games for me has scored 1 goal - with his feet. Most of my goals have come from Ewerton.

I like Dortmund - look pretty solid. But I will need help from anyone who knows how to cross properly to use them well I think.

My friendly record with dortmund is 3 5 2 I think (and one of those two was because at 2-2 and his player heading for goal, my r1 button fell out! So I couldn't run after him). Not bad, considering I've not connected with a single header yet!

I'm loving dortmund - so far, from 12 games (albeit all at home) I've won 5, drew 5 and lost 2. I've even started scoring headers (all from titchy ewerthon though!).

hey bolch can i request a couple of things please

maybe one of your updated msn list with all players in respective divisions last one was great

also and i think this is important i feel everyone should have the pesonline updated roster installed do both need to have it or just one person

take vfb stuggart for example they are damn good offline and also when you play with no pes online installed but when you do you lose some great players so to be fair i think everyone should have it installed

I was contemplating swapping Sevilla for Vfb Stutgart, but like Jonny found out online they're missing their better players. So I'm going to ride the storm and pray for survival. As a team they're not too bad but Silva, Makalakakakaula and Baptista lack that polish to finish off an attack.

They will only add new members not currently on your MSN friends list. To take best advantage of the group splitting you need to delete everyone, add 1 group then create a group on MSN and move the people you just added to that group. Then keep going through the groups.

First game was quite close until I managed to score my second goal in the 70th odd minute. Then two counter attacks later managed to score two more goals.

In the second game I managed to score with my first attack and played well through out, although Teasy had few decent chances and managed to score only for it to be disallowed for being offside.

Well played Teasy!

Okay folks, I'm going to be trying to get as many of my games played as possible this next week to 10 days. There were 4 people from my division on tonight but unfortunately one was at work, one was going out and the other two didn't answer my messages.

If anyone from my division sees me, please drop me a message as I would like to play them asap. I can be on most nights from 5pm till 9pm (only till 8pm on Tues/Thurs)and at any given time at the weekend. Anyone want to set a time now please? Would be nice to get some games organised - would appreciate it if anyone could set a time.

2nd game had two penalty appeals turned down, one was very soft and the other not as soft  , also hit post in last 5 mins as Aimar for Valencia finished his mission of taking out my entire defense followed by a red

Fair results over all and we both deserve equal share of points. Thanks a lot for the games Chet, most enjoyable and good luck in the rest

I noticed that last season with them, they have some great quick midfielders but struggle to score. Try playing nonda (or something like that) as hes very strong, and should be able to power through most defences to at least get you that bit nearer!

Two very close games very evenly matched. First game was very limited in terms of shots and I fouled a little towards the end to prevent a couple of chances on goal.

2nd game I took the league very early on from a swinging cross after a cross shot looked like it had gone out only for my forward to hook it back in for Torres to score. Bolch then went down the other end and scored straight after when an attempted clearance went into the back of my defender and on to his forwards foot.

Bolch could have taken the game with a few chances late on but it was not to be. 2 games and 2 points for me, could be worse :)

Tight first half but a somewhat inspired substitution seen Parker brought on for Drogba. 90 secs later 1-0. Baros equalised a few mins later when 3 Chelski defs tackled Cudicini and the ball rolled loose to Baros who dispatched it easily. Parker with a maisey run from half way made it 2-1. Knew it was going to be bad when Henry was on a grey down but I doubt he would have touched the ball anyway. Gunner just ran down the field and scored every 5 mins or so. Helped with an own goal and a last minute penalty and the fact that every cross landed plum on his attackers head.
2nd game he was 1 up at half time (which seemed like a moral victory for me) then the game froze.

Thanks for the games mate, first game was a cracker! First you were leading, then me, then you, only for Martins to hit the deck ala Klinsmann for a last minute penalty.

Second game was a bit unfair really, two messed up keeper rushes and 2 penalties and red cards early on (both your CB's) was always going to ruin any team and I just had a massive advantage munbers wise.

Unlucky m8ty - I had this against him the WC

I've had a think about this.

I'm gonna try and do the "normal" league, just pull me from the super league (would really like to do that as it sounds like a lot of fun but its too many games to commit myself to at the mo and I need to focus on the baby more).

After all, theres only 14 odd more games so thats only 140 mins over the next 4 weeks - do-able I think.

Tell me about it!

I had to look after the kids all by myself on Monday and Tuesday this week as the Missus had a short break away from home. Got 4 hours interupted sleep in total I reckon

Woke up Wednesady, puked up a doner kebab I ordered because I had no time to cook and still feel really crap with a cold or something.

I really appreciate the Missus being around

Phayze won 2-0 home and away

I've never played so ***** and I'm totally dissillusioned. I couldn't pass, tackle or shoot and 4 times I defended like a ****, letting in 4 goals in the process.

I'm also a little annoyed that despite thanking phayze for both games, once in pes4 and once in msn all I got was one "ta". Not sure what to make of that.

That's me in a hurry, and not wanting to write a gushing essay when I won quite comfortably. I don't do smalltalk, nor patronise people, so don't expect a "Well done mate, kisses. xxx" after a game.

OFFICIAL PL RESULTS:

Teasy (Lens) 1 - 1 John316 (Spartak)
John316 (Spartak) 2 - 1 Teasy (Lens)

Couple of really, really tough games - first time I can recall playing Teasy and it was a real challenge to break him down. Was One-nill down in the first game via a ****** own goal in the first half. But despite throwing everything bar the kitchen sink, it was looking like Spartak was sliding towards its first defeat. Fortunately, Cavenaghi managed to scramble a goal in to steal a 1-1 draw in the 86th minute :D

Game 2 saw me take an early lead only to see some lack of defensive concentration allow a nicely worked equaliser. Managed to fashion a winner though soon after and repelled some Lens pressure in the 2nd half to take the 3 points

Oh and its post no. 20000 - really :dork:

One thing running the early part of these leagues has taught me is that we have lots and lots of wonderfully varied characters on these forums.

Some are quite laid back like bolch, Lou, Prof and myself. Some are, how should I put this? very sure about their own abilities :suspect: and some are quite easily rattled.

What I am trying to say here is that people are different. People have different views on politeness and etiquette online. The best way I have found to deal with this mix is to just not to get wound up over things. Lou is right and it brings me back to the original rules and the "Most Important Rule". It is only a game.

kipp went 1-0 up then i scored ball went to centre circle i was standing waiting for kipp to kick off next thing i see kipp jumping to head ball in

then if thats not bad enough kipp plays a through ball my man could of got it then the game goes in super slow mo then so fast it was unreal i see kipps man run past me at 10000 miles per hour and put ball in net lol

any tips on anything to help this lag issues seems to occur when the host is on router any tweaks i can make to my ntl modem

Bigjonnyuk 1 - 0 MattWild
MattWild 2 - 2 Bigjonnyuk

Two very close games that could have gone either way as normal between me and the bigjonny!

1st game jonny scored a nice little tuck back and prolly had the better game.

2nd game, I took an early lead and hit the bar a couple of times in the 1st half. Jonny equalized shortly after the break came back with a tame header off a corner that looped past my keeper and my defender on the line just watched it bounce off him and in

He then took the lead when my unchallanged defender took an excellent power header and put it into my own goal . I then managed to hit the bar off one attack straight after each other - literally headed it on to the bar came down and my striker headed it against the bar again

Finally, in the 89th min a crafty through ball on the edge of the box allowed my forward to smash it into the roof of the net (i'm sure he was trying to hit the bar again tho as I thought it was about to bounce back out!!).

Gutted to get 1 point of this game when I feel I should have perhaps taken the game :(

Daz Kelly 2 - 2 Bolch
Bolch 2 - 1 Daz Kelly

It's a funny old game. First game had the upper hand for most of the game. By 75 mins was 1-0 up and thinking I might play dirty and keep the ball to hold out for a much needed 3 points. Thought better against it as it's not my nature. 85th minute Daz scores to level it. 87th minute I score again to give myself the lead again. Once more I think about keeping the ball but decided against it when I saw myself on the attack. Went for a throughball, Daz intercepted and scored on the counter

2nd game both teams pretty much cancelled each other out. No team did much to deserve the win. About 65 mins in Dario G must've seen red (ie the red arrow he was supposed to be on) and knocked 2 in over 10 mins. Injury time and Daz "last minute" Kelly scores. Took no chances and managed to hold the ball for 8 seconds to take the 3 points.

That's 6 points from 6 games. If I keep that point to game ratio I'm going down.
