Is it worth watching? All I've heard is that the sound is good, with normal situations being exaggerated (such as a someone drinking a cup of coffee), and is worth getting just for those type of scenes.

I think it's a very good film and those type of 'effects' mearly add to the experiance. However theres a lot of people who don't like it.

Ringo's did (not sure if he still does) have it for a tenner, for that price it's worth it.

As said before, this will not be everyone's cup of tea (what film is?), but definitely worth watching.
I'm not sure if it would stand up to repeated viewings - I haven't got round to watching it a second time yet - but I'll warn you that it's a very unsettling movie, don't expect to sit back and relax....

I think you should at least see this film once. Quite an unsettling experience sitting through it but you have to watch it....abit like standing stareing at a car crash after it has happened.

The extras are also worth a look see as well.

Definately worth a viewing if you like movies - and as you post here I'm guessing you do!!

Not everybodies cup of tea for sure, but one that needs to be watched to make you realise how a movie can get deep down to your raw emotions...... Extrras are very good as well.

And if you are interested, I've got the R1 unrated directors cut for trade or sale here.....

I was contemplating getting this also...the first thing that initially drawn me to it was the fact there is a nekkid chick in it :D But after paying a bit more attention and actually finding out a bit more about the film, I'm quite interested to see it. :)

the film is not as good as the book......but then there aren't many that are.....

watch it....but be aware that there is a very intense scene towards the end of the film which is almost unwatchable (a lot of this is to do with the sound and the fact it just goes on and on and on....)

Aronofsky's trademarks are very apparent......if you've seen Pi....expect more of the same but in colour.........

It came to me as a 'Hard-hitting portrayal of the seedy underbelly of human existence'.
I found it to be as dull as dishwater.
Nothing shocking about it at all I'm afraid.

I agree about the book - The film has made the characters slightly more "black and white" which is a shame. Still, it's a superb film although not everyone likes it's experimental style.

I'm going to rent it. What has the unrated directors cut got which the rated one hasn't?

Watched the R2 DVD of this on sunday night. Must say it really got under my skin, especially the final scenes. Not for the faint hearted.

Not everyone's cup of tea i'd agree but a very powerful film. Can't remember a film that's had such an effect on me for a long while.

9 out of 10 for me. :)

I disliked it, for reasons that I've gone into too many times to bear repeating - but that certainly doesn't mean I don't recommend it: if any recent film urges its audience to make up its own mind, it's this one!
