It's not been standardised yet - looks like they still can't decide on which solution to go for..

No, there are plenty of 'pre-N' routers and WAPs out there, just none that include an integrated modem...

Be careful though, as these are not actually 802.11n devices therefore compatibility with the future standard will probably be slim-to-none..

At the moment, the 802.11n situation is the same as these super-G 108Mbps devices - they are entirely proprietary. That can be the problem with the standards process, it just takes too long... (i.e. 802.11g )
