Woo! Great news, will be time 3 for me too, awesome band
Where can I buy tickets for the london gig from?
Just booked two tickets, ticketmaster is a little annoying because it did not ask for a shipping address so it is sending the tickets to my billing address which is not wear I live!
I am going to the London Astoria concert, this will be my first ever gig so I am excited, now I just need to find someone to go with  . What kind of atmosphere/fans does Alter Bridge attract?

Alter Bridge are back in the UK in June:
June 6 The Astoria London, UK
June 7 Wulfrun Hall Wolverhampton, UK
June 9 ABC Glasgow, UK
June 10 Download Festival Donington, UK
June 11 Solus Cardiff, UK
And the totally amazing Shinedown look like they'll be supporting on at least some of the dates (Different websites say different things) :notworthy
Cool, thanks for the info Nicola
Anyone know what the Solus in Cardiff is like for a venue? only ever been to the CIA.

The last time I went to Cardiff Uni was to see The Lilac Time at the Hanging Gardens, but that was back in '88 and I suspect things have changed since then

Wow can't believe it's over 2 years since this thread started!
Great news on another tour, from what i've heard of the new album it's going to be even better than 'One Day Remains' :)
No Scotland...disappointing.

QMU on 18/1. Just using GigsInScotland instead as the agency.
Received 'Blackbird' in the post yesterday, what a fantastic album!
A few of my favourite tracks so far include 'Before Tomorrow Comes', 'Come To Life' & 'Coming Home'.

Before Tomorrow Comes is one of the best songs I've ever heard. I love this band.

That's my fave song on there too, plus love the solo in Blackbird.
Cracking album, not quite as good as One Day Remains but its growing on me all the time.

Just back from the Astoria -Yes, I know it's early, they finished at 9.15pm (Because of G-A-Y)!!
They were superb, probably the best I've seen them play
I commented to my OH that they were too big of a band to be playing there anymore, the place was totally packed. Then later on Myles said that they are returning to the UK in November, playing London on the 8th at Brixton.
Mark Tremonti is such an amazing guitarist :notworthy
Home already?
What was wrong with paying again to see Kelly Rowland?
She's been pimping herself all over TV this week so you should have made the effort!!

No thanks, I wouldn't open my windows if she was singing in my back garden.
I thought it would have ended at 10pm seeing that the club doesn't open until 10.30pm? Maybe they didn't like the thought of the 2 rather different crowds mixing?
I wouldn't open my windows if she was singing in my back garden.
Did they play Blackbird? (Silly question seeing as it's the title track to their new album and all)
I'd love to see that live. Fantastic acoustic and solo work on that track.
NicolaUK
27-01-2008, 10:23
Of course  That is an amazing song and probably better live too.
I was at the astoria too on Sat! I must say, I only went cos my flatmate didnt want to go on there own, but I had a great night! The lead guitarist was phenominal and some of the faces he was pulling when doing solos were hilarious! You have got to feel pretty sorry for the drummer and other guitarist, they are just blown out of the water by the lead singer and lead guitarist! Absolutly fantastic showmen and held the crowd all night! Im getting tickets for Brixton as that will be a much better venue!

Pity they aren't coming to Bristol this time around, Portsmouth is a possibility though.
Anyone else heard the duet with Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) on "Watch Over You" ?

It's a very hard song to listen to though, it's so raw.
For all you budding Mark Tremonti's out there, learn from him how to play those blistering Alter Bridge solo's:
Mark Tremonti's new Instructional/Documentary DVD, The Song and the Story, is due for release in July. It will be over three hours long complete with live footage, backstage access, original compositions and guest lessons along with Mark himself teaching all the solos on Blackbird along with his insights on song writing.
"Step inside the mind of one of today's most influential rock guitarists. This all-access video couples instruction with the inside story of a self-taught guitarist who has made it to the biggest stages in the world. From techniques and exercises to writing and performing, Mark gives a comprehensive look at his playing and the ways he pushes himself to continue developing as an artist. Also included are in-depth guest lessons by Myles Kennedy, Michael Angelo Batio, Troy Stetina, Rusty Cooley and Bill Peck, making this the most informative and well-rounded guitar instruction video of all time.

I had tickets for this show but I'm now going to see them in Portsmouth a few days later - I'll be seeing Shinedown in Jacksonville on the same date as the London show so I can't complain

How was the show? I heard a rumour that Hot Leg pulled out of at least one date (Manchester?) citing illness, but speculation was they lost heart after being booed at a previous gig. Looking at their website, it's hard to imagine them impressing your typical AB audience.
I'm taking my kids to see the Portsmouth show, but am going to be pushing it to get there for support acts. Does anyone have a rough idea of scheduling for the support and main event, even if only estimates based on earlier gigs on this tour?
Thanks
Stevie

When they played Norwich the doors opened 7:30. I got there just after 8 and Logan were playing. AB kept us waiting 'till around 9:30 before they came on.

Thanks for this, Robby. I guess I won't be dashing to get there. My sons are 9 and 13, got seats in the front row of the seated balcony section. Would you recommend earplugs (?!?)
Better to have them and not need them, than need them and not have them. :D
I'm hardcore and just stood at the back. :p

Well Hotleg got possibly one of the worst receptions I've ever seen at the Glasgow gig. Really bad.

Alter Bridge put on a good show in Portsmouth. More my sons' taste than mine. I was surprised to see that band and crowd actually do the wolf sign thing at each other. I thought that was strictly spinal tap, but then I am more used to being amongst plaid shirts doing a soft shoe shuffle in places like the Borderline.
Logan were OK, but generic. Missed Tequila Rocking Bird, who replaced Hot Leg. Logan singer had some fun at HL's expense (lots of crowd boos whenever he mentioned their name).
Impressive lightshow. I thought Myles looked a bit like Russell Brand with his hair straightened. Didn't realise he was a good guitarist himself. He played some impressive slide guitar on a solo rendition of the Lemon Song.
Glad we took the earplugs. I think the whole thing would have sounded so much better if everything hadn't been turned up to 11. But then that's just me showing my age, I guess.

Were you sat end of front row, right hand side, left aisle?
How stupid that you can't take drinks in  we didn't bother with the support, have seen Logan support them before and they're pretty dire. AB were great though and it was definitely louder than expected!

hiya, we were v central, directly facing the stage, front row of the balcony, I think seats A33, 34 ish. Three male blonds.
Security on the door checked my bag; I offered him the water when he told me I couldn't take it in; then he saw my kids and changed his mind, said "I guess you won't be having a wild party tonight" and waved us through. I think my nine year old was probably the youngest person there, and just next to us was a man who looked late 50s. I was surprised how many older people there were!

When you said in an earlier post you were front row I thought that must have been you :)
We had E31/32 but moved as there was plenty of space up there. A very mixed crowd indeed!
Didn't get checked at all on the way in but my OH did manage to sneak a bottle of water in to the circle, he's so rock 'n roll

Quite sedate upstairs, wasn't it? When I got bored watching the stage and lights, the circle of moshers down below were entertaining.

Annoyed that I didn't catch them on tour - looks excellent :(
:brickwall
I just spoke to Alter Bridge's manager and he has informed me that the DVD has been delayed. He stated that the reason was that some legal issues still have to be worked out between Wind-Up and Universal Records. He told me he hopes to have this worked out by the end of the week and that we hope to announce a release date at some point next week. (Once they work out the legal stuff they have to go back to the distributors to choose a date)
The band and myself are pretty bummed out by the delay but the good news is that the concert is well worth the wait. I've watched the "Tour Version" (just the full concert) and it is perfect in every way. I have not even seen the documentary yet but I am told that Myles performs an acoustic, spine-tingling version of Hallelujah in it!
That is all I know right now and as soon as I hear anything else, I promise to let all of you know.
All the best,
Michael Tremonti

Mark Speaks about AB III and Tour Plans for 2010/2011
Category: Music
This just in from www.alterbridge.com...
Hello Alter Bridge Nation,
Our own Mark Tremonti recently spoke to Gary Graff from Billboard.com and revealed to the world that he and Myles Kennedy have now regrouped in Florida to continue writing on the third album. He also stated that the band hopes to be ready to hit the studio in February. His plan is to have Alter Bridge start touring in Europe in October, with North American dates expected in late 2010 and 2011, followed by European festival appearances that summer.
“Me and Myles need to get on the same page with our ideas, and once we’re there we’ll realize what kind of work load we have,” Tremonti says. “We don’t have much time to spare. We feel like we’re cutting it really close, but I feel like I’m very well organized at this point, which makes me feel better.”
You can read the full article here… http://www.billboard.com/news#/news/creed-keeps-circle-spinning-with-live-dvd-1004050992.story
Myles Kennedy also confirmed that writing with Mark has begun in Florida in a blog originally posted on his Myspace page. He also talks about the progress on his solo project. We have re-posted his blog so you can read it, here in the blog section of alterbridge.com.
That is all for now as the time for writing a third album is here!
Keep rocking,
Alter Bridge
I'm so looking forward to this, but next October for new tour dates.
Good news, really enjoy the two Alter Bridge albums, though the last Creed album did nothing for me.
More encouraging AB news :
Hello Alter Bridge Nation,
We just wanted to check in and let you know that the writing sessions for our third album have been coming along amazingly, so far. We feel that we have five songs that are "album ready" at this point, and we are in the process of figuring out several more. In fact, there are many song ideas we have yet to touch on. So, all in all, we are very happy with the progress thus far. We plan on writing through the weekend, at which point we will halt things to spend time with our families over the Holiday Season. After New Year's Day, we plan to get right back into Mark's studio to continue writing.

The new album is finished ! :D
ALTER BRIDGE has issued the following update:
"We are pleased to inform you that the recording of our third album has been completed. It was an amazing journey and we believe that the songs that we have created are our most inspired and dynamic work to date.
"We all worked very hard on these songs, over a long period of time, and we are all fiercely proud of what we have recorded.
"We have played some of the rough mixes of the songs to a few of our 'trusted ears' and they are telling us that we have absolutely topped the 'Blackbird' album. The true test will come when we get to hear what all you fans think and we are very much looking forward to that day.
"The next step in the process will be mixing, which will begin in mid-April, in New York. The mixing will probably take a few weeks and once that is finished, we will begin the difficult task of deciding which songs will make the album. The goal is to release the album in September, before our planned October tour in Europe that will start in the U.K."
Why not start a fresh thread rather than confuse people by bumping one that is nearly 5 years old !!!
