Nancy Wilson rules if we're going to be picky - 70s Heart knock spots off Stillwater if you ask me (how many guitar strings have I broken playing 'Barracuda'?). Great CD though.

Just finished watching the Untitled Director's Cut. As a fan of the movie, I'd say that most of the extra 35 minutes managed to flesh out the story (but at 2:43 I did find myself clock watching a few times).

As for the Stillwater music, much of it doesn't live up to the promise of the opening 10 seconds. Sounds to me that their 70's inspiration was Free. Agree with Agnetha about 70's Heart (forget the powerballad 80's), they were a good band.

Got mine from Play yesterday. Just as I managed to get shot of the old version. :D

Very cool packaging, but did anyone else think it would have been better if it had some sort of slipcase type thing, like Fight Club? Just to hold it all together properly?

Thought the Stillwater CD was OK. Anyone who doesn't own Heart's Dreamboat Annie though really should investigate.

As I missed the film at the theatres would you recommend I watch the theatrical cut or directors cut first?

Prompt replies appreciated, I got this yesterday and it immediately leapt above the other 6 or 7 films in my to watch pile!

Theatrical first, then you can appreciate the differences in the untitled cut.

And the DTS track.

You could always scan the covers and repackage in a double Amaray to help feed Bapapapas packaging operation. ;)

I own the original DVD release and now have the much superior Bootleg DVD.

By far the best special feature on the original release was the reasonably comprehensive documentary, which even showed some of the actors screen tests.

Although the hype surrounding the Bootleg Edition's release stated that there was an extensive behind the scenes featurette, this appears to be nowhere on the DVD. It also doesn't appear to be listed on the package, but then, neither do some of the other extras.

Anyone found it yet?

Bit of a shame, as I had planned to flog my original version, but won't if it has content not found on the newer release. Grr.

P.S. Are those menus cool or what.

It's not on there. The Stillwater music vid is also missing. Kinda annoying, I didn't think it was worth keeping the old disc just for these two extras.

A couple of reviews say that there was a second trailer on the original release that isn't on the new one. The copy I had only had one. Anyone?

I was under the impression that the bootleg edition would be DTS as well as the original, but that doesn't seem to be the case (just received mine at work today). Shame. Still, looking forward to watching it ... guess I'll watch the original version first ... as I've never seen it B4.

I don't have DTS yet, but that's a good point to note - only the theatrical cut has DTS, the Bootleg cut doesn't. Weird.

Personally, I don't see why they couldn't have put the movie (both versions) on one disc, and used seamless branching to move in and out of the extra scenes, depending on what version the viewer selects.

Then you can have DTS where it is available. Also, the extra scenes in the director's cut appear to be separate chapters, but I'm not 100% certain that this it is as simple as this because I haven't watched the Bootleg version so don't know what, and how much, and how many, new scenes are in there.

Anyway this would have left a whole disc for extras, rather than spreading it out over the two and getting confused into the mix.

Personally, I think this DVD rocks, I have to say the Menus and Menu Music rank up there as probably impressing me most out of all the 200-ish DVDs I own, everything about the menus rocks.

And what about the Small Time Blues extra, ACTUALLY, could this be the 'music video' referred to on the box? Anyway it is really cool and I will have to try and rip that into MP3 format because it is sweet.

I don't want to gripe, because it's clear some effort went into this package, I'm glad I own it, it just sometimes seems as if the people organising DVDs aren't that, well, organised. Maybe I should get a job doing it.

Call me Van Floop.

Apparently Cameron Crowe is not too happy that they released the Untitled cut without a DTS track. Its not that there isn't one! Both the French and German releases have the DTS track.

Well unfortunately mine is waiting for me as a Burfday present on 17th Dec - so I shall be extremely envious until then!

However, if you like the "Stillwater" stuff, you really should check out some stuff from The Black Crowes - or, as Melody Maker christened them... "the most Rock'n Roll, Rock'n Roll band in the world"!!!

I can heartily recommend "Shake Your Moneymaker", "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion", "Amorica" and "Three Snakes and a Charm" - as well as the current album "Lions"!!

There is another link here, and that is the fact that the gorgeous Kate Hudson is married to Chris Robinson - lead singer of the Crowes!!! And the director of "Almost Famous" is called Crowe.... I think this is starting to get a bit tenuos now!;)
