After "Together", I was unsure whether another Swedish film could be any where near as funny. I need not have worried. I haven't laughed so much in a long time.
Josef Fares directs his first feature and stars (along with his family) in this film about two guys, Roro and Mans who work in the local park picking up rubbish and doing general gardening work.
They both have problems...Roro's family have fixed him up to married (very quickly) to Yasmine who's family have a lot of money but who will send her back to Lebanon to be married if she is not married soon. Personally, if my folks had fixed me up with a girl as attractive as Laleh Pourkarim I'd be thanking them, however, Roro already has a GF (Lisa - Tuva Novatny, even more stunning) that his family don't know about because she's Swedish.
Mans has problems because (how can I put this without worrying the Mods...) Private Richards, the one-eyed soldier, will not stand to attention ;)
Anyway, to say any more would give too much away.
It has been put forward as the Swedish entry for the "Best Foreign Film" at the Oscars, but whether the language and certain scenes will acceptable to the Board is another matter.
If you get the chance; see it.
