I currently have the mission cinema 7 speaker package and am think of upgrading to Ruark speakers, namely :

Dialoge One R as center - £400
Epilogue R as rears - £400
Prologue R as fronts - £1,000

AMP is Denon AVR3300 - will replace that at some stage with better amp, probs a Denon again as found it to be a good amp.

DVD player is Pioneer 626D

Any comments on the speakers or alternatives for similaer price would be appreciated.

Excellent speakers

I worked in the hifi trade for a few years and can say Ruark are very good speaker, i use the Dialogue One myself after listening to most centre speakers available at the time.
The Dialogue One was the most naturally voiced speaker i heard.

Cheers Carl

P.S i`m currently using it on a Denon 3802 amp

I auditioned some £900-£1000 Ruark floorstanders earlier this year and thought they were okay but quite unexiting. I thought they lacked the dynamics of the B&W 603sII or CM4s... which I was going to buy until I found some ex-demo Epos ES22s which I loved....

...still it's all down to personal taste and the owner of the shop in question really liked the Ruarks. At the end of the day you need to listen to speakers as they do all sound very different. I'm powering mine with a Denon AVC-A1D and the amp is more than up to the task...but I auditioned with a 3802 as that's all they had in stock...

Hello mate

I've got Ruark Dialogue and Prologues as well as Ruark Templars at the rear and a Ruark sub. I tested loads when I was looking for my set up (about 2 years ago) and I just found the Ruarks to be superb for Home Cinema, but also for music - which a lot of speakers tend to fall down on....... IMHO!!

Mine are working with Arcam Alpha 10 amp and 10P power amps and with the DiVa88 DVD player - happy as a pig in.....******!

Only "advice" I would give you is this........

1) Go and try them first at a shop that will let you demo them with your set-up. Preferably one that will let you "test" them at home for a week. Irrespective of price range, it's only your ears that can decide if they are the right speakers for you or not.
2) Never buy at the asking price! There is normally a bit of margin when you buy that lot together!!
3) Get good quality bi-wired cable!

You probably know all of the above already - so I apologise for wasting your time!!;)

Thanks for the info of which i never consider any information as a waste of time - i first became interested in them when i heard them in my local Sevenoaks Sound and Vision - the sound they created i loved, plus loved the look of them.

The only thing that really annoys me i was going to buy the Epilogues as my fronts originally then move them to the back when i bought new front speakers - at the time i hadnt heard the full set up and ended up going for the missions - doh

I currently use cable talk 3.5 wire for the front and center speakers - and some £2.5 per/meter cable (thin and white cant remeber the name) for the rears.
