I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

Plugged my N64 in tonight for some nostalgia before the GC turns up ;) but I now have no sound from my amp :(

The N64 connects to the front of the tv/s-video.
The tv (internal speakers are turned off) is via scart to the video/Sky+ box, which is then connected to the amp (Sony 930) via phonos + an optical cable from the Sky+ box.
Anyway, I should have game sound through amp with tv selected but don't, incidentally this is only since I've plugged the optical cable in :(
I thought I could change the input mode from auto (so overriding the optical) to analogue but it doesn't seem to work :(

Any ideas, sorry it's a bit long

The only thing I thought of doing was hooking up the tv to the amp on video 2 maybe?! What do you think?

TIA :)

Surely the reason you're not getting sound is because only the VCR & Sky AV channels are connected to the receiver?

If your s-vid cable has phono connectors, plug those straight into the amp. Alternatively if the TV has phono outputs, then connect the TV to the amp that way.

I just find it stange that it worked before I started using the optical cable

Anyway, yes the tv has phono outs, I've just bought a longer lead and will connect it direct to the amp.

Thanks :)

Very confused now, doesn't work direct to the amp either

Do you get any sound from the TV speakers? I see you've got them turned off, what happens if you switch them back on?

Do you have a headphone volume control in the TV setup menus, try upping that. My headphone control on my TV controls the line out volume as well.

If I turn the tv speakers back on, I have sound from the tv speakers but not from the amp.

No headphone control I'm afraid :(

I'm knackered and annoyed now :( but will try unplugging the optical cable tomorrow - I can't even disable the output from it, which seems stoopid

Thanks for your help :)

I don't understand.

Are you selecting the correct audio input on the amp, and are you plugging the phonos into the correct holes?

On my old 830 you could select the video and audio source seperately (green & amber) lights, are you positive the correct one is selected, the optical shouldn't make a jot of difference?

I don't understand either :(

Yes, correct input is selected and if I tofggle through the v/a mode it doesn't make any difference.
