Screen gone on my Acer, so would like a reputable outfit to take a look for me.

We've sent a couple of laptops at work to a company who charge (I believe) a set fee for particular repairs. I've not got the details to hand, but will find out from my boss on Monday.
I know it was a Dell and the screen ribbon had perished, and they repaired that - I've a figure of about £180, but its a bit of a hazy memory! I'll get more info Monday...

You will be looking at a fair bit of money for a new screen - possibly £200-300

If the laptop if over a few years old you may be better off putting the money towards a new acer laptop (and buying the relatively inexpensive 3 year acer warrenty with accidental damage cover!)

Alternatively look for a laptop of the same model on ebay beign sold for spares...

Not sure if the screen is totally shot, as there's a very faint impression - as if the brightness/contrast was too low. Tried opening it up to have a look last night but the damned screws are so deep-seated, I didn't have a thin enough screwdriver!

Will find out more info for you tho'.

OK, details on a laptop repairer we've used at work.

LAPTOP SOLUTIONS

A broken screen repair cost us £197 (I think this was exc. VAT)
Not sure how long the actual repair took, but I can find out. I think it was just over a week.

Yell if you need any more details...
