I brought a Toshiba 28W8DB from Home Electrical Direct (http://www.hed.co.uk/listitems.asp?CAT=50&Mode=2&SUBCATID=24) around spring time and I had problems with the picture colours.

It was sent for repairs and the tube was replaced, but I just watched 2001:Space Oddessy (compo win:)) and the problem is still there. In the briefing scene, the two bright white walls show the problem, in the left a blue blob will start to appear, grow to cover the entire white wall, ditto on the right but its a yellow blob, and these blob then tint whatevers underneath them if the scene changes...obviously this is 'distracting'.

The problem dissappears if i turn the set off, or on its own if a dark colour is on the screen for long enough.

So on to the questions: what causes the picture problem? (blooming?) is it a setup issue that I can fix?

at the mo, i've got Telewest cable box->dvd->tv via RGB scart, although I'll try svideo from dvd->tv.

If its not sommit I can fix then: is this a problem with a lot of sets? (I did have it with an thompson, 28" but that did it almost immediatly)

Which sets would people recommend for a similar price? I brought the tosh for ~500, but would consider going higher, if I would get a better picture/features(eg progressive scan or 100Hz). And going up to 32" wont be a problem;)

Sound isn't an issue...my yammy ax620 and tannoys take care of all that:)

Thanks in advance

I have seen JVC 32" 100MHz sets for around £699 - £999 and must say that I think the picture and features, and sound, are excellent.

Ok, after some suggestions from my flat mates, I don't think its the TV at fault...the DVD RGB output seems to be the culprit. (got some piccs but can't seem to get them posted:()

The problem occurs quickly on the brighter settings, than on the dimmer ones. It also occurs but to a much less extent when the DVD player is set to s-video output.

It didn't happen at all on a picture from the telewest cable box (the current not avail screen on the help channels)

So I don't think its my SCART cables, but a problem with the DVD player(LG 3350) rgb output, I'm gonna try my flat mates thomson, which I think has RGB out.
