My first disc of the Region 1 Planet of the Apes release has stuttering problems in 3 places, the first occurs around 15 minutes into the film.

Has anybody else suffered these gremlins or have I a rogue disc?

I had stuttering problems also on my copy as well.I have a toshiba 3107 and the disc skipped about 6 times.I have since sold it to a mate who played it perfectly on his wharfdale 750. I am going to get it again when it comes out next year on region 2.there seems to be some problem with disc and certain toshiba players.

no problems with R1 POTA on my Toshiba SD200e or SD9000g.

I had a problem on my Tosh 2109, very close to the end of the film.

It actually went into the Enhanced viewing mode to show one of the CGI scenes, but then stopped.

I just skipped past the scene and it appeared to work.

I am wondering if it's time to change the player as I never used to have any problems at all, but this is becoming more of a problem with the newer discs.

Cheers, guys. I have a Tosh SD-9000 so it looks like the disc is largely not Toshiba friendly....although it appears some discs are okay. It's like DVD roulette sometimes...luck of the draw.

The only other problematic discs I've encountered with my player are Argento's Phenomena from Anchor Bay and T2 - UE...both of which are known for being problematic on certain machines.

Please advise how can I check the firmware of my Tosh. I've had it for around 18 months but am unsure as to check the software version installed.

(From the literature I have, my model appears to be a SD9000E.)

I've checked the firmware on my Toshiba and it's version:

v2.900 - R2 (chipped by Techtronics)

Does this require updating? If it does, can anybody recommend a good company to action this mod?

I've got a Tosh2109 and had 3 problems
[1] The bit where the space station detects the storm, as the views pans out to show the station from the outside, weird white writing appeared in the bottom right of the screen. Rewound and it wasn't there.
[2] Two 1/4sec pauses in the DTS soundtrack within the first 1/2 hour.

My disc came loose in the post and is smeared, so this could be the cause.

Damn, I wish I had read this before I parted with my hard earned!
It pixelizes (is there such a word?) and then freezes on my Tosh 2109 about chapter 15 and I can only watch again from Chapter 24.
I have checked it out on another Region 1 player and it works fine. Anyone want to buy a 1 day old R1 copy?

Watched it earlier today on my new Marantz 4100ose with no problems at all. I'll hook up my retired (to my bedroom) Sammy 709 and check it on that and let you lot know if it has problems.
