I'm currently with Wanadoo Broadband (512kbps/2Gb cap) and have not been able to connect since the 1st June. I have a monitor that tells me I've not exceeded my 2Gb cap. The only reason I can still connect is because I could fortunately resurrect my Pay As You Go dial-up account!

When I try to connect it constantly fails at the "Verifying username and password" stage, finally halting with an error message of "0721 - the remote computer did not respond".

So far I've spend the past fortnight going between both Wanadoo and BT "help" desks, but nothing has resolved the problem. Wanadoo tell me my account is still active; BT tell me my line is okay. Both side have "run tests", but with no change in the result.

When I dial the BT Broadband number, 0800 169 0199, I am told by the recorded message that my area (01332 Chellaston) is registering a fault that may affect connection so that certainly seems to concur, but when I talk to a real person, using my actual phone number as the specific example within the exchange, they say there should be absolutely nothing wrong with my number/line.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the modem.
I have swapped microfilters around.
I have restored my PC back to a version of XP/SP2 before the fault occurred.
I have (with the guidance of Wanadoo) tried various bt_test_user and startup_user test accounts.
I have (with the guidance of Wanadoo) changed all possible connection settings, including LAN/DSN/TCP-IP.

None of the above made any difference.

The only other factor is that I applied to move to 1Mbps just before I lost the ability to connect. However this may be a red herring, as Wanadoo say that request still hasn't been processed and analysis of the line by BT say I should be good for up to 2Mbps.

Any ideas?!
