24th June - Kick Off :clap:
WORLD CUP RULES
1.TIMETABLE FOR MATCHES
1.1 Try to get all group matches played by 1st July. From then I'm going to suggest 4days for each round (give or take slightly do to peoples real life commitments).
2. MATCH SETTINGS
2.1 HOME (host) and AWAY (client) matches to be played between teams. In the knockout stages games will be played over 2 legs (home + away) with the aggregate score deciding who goes through. In the even of a draw start another 5 min game with penalties on and kick the ball about ensuring a draw so it goes to penalties. Then use the penalties to decide who advances
2.2 If someone cannot host then they can (via mutual agreement) play their HOME game as client.
2.3 Match settings are below:
Match Time: 10 min
Injuries: Yes
Max subs: 3 players
Extra Time: No
Penalties: No
Referee: Random
Player Condition: Random
Stadium: Clubhouse
Weather: Fine
All other settings at discretion of HOME team.
3. DISCONNECTED GAMES
3.1 If you are disconnected then you replay the match with the current scores added to the replayed match (For league purposes the first match is always deemed as a 1-0 scoreline).
e.g.
Team A winning 5-0 against Team B before disconnection.
Team A wins 3-0 in replay.
Match result is 4-0.
Team A winning 2-1 before disconnection.
Team B wins 3-2 in replay.
Match result is 3-3 DRAW
Team A winning 2-0 before disconnection.
Team B wins 3-0 in replay.
Match result is 3-1 victory for Team B
4. REPORTING RESULTS
5.1 Results must be posted on the thread with the HOME team first ( in BOLD would aid my results tracking)
Official match:
Ono (H) 5 – 0 Tequila (A)
For round 2 onwards use the following format...
Official match:
Ono (H) 5 – 0 Tequila (A)
Tequila (H) 5 – 0 Ono (A)
Penalties: Ono 5 - 4 Tequila
Note: - You should make sure you are VERY CLEAR with each other when you are playing an official. Speak using F10 to check that you are in agreement.
5. PLAYER DROPOUTS
5.1 Although I hope we get no dropouts, things happen so the rules for any player who drops out are as follows:
- If a standby player is available they will take the place of the dropout.
- If not then the dropout’s results and matches will be removed entirely from the league tables.
6. MOST IMPORTANT RULE
6.1 It’s just a game. Have fun and don’t get too wound up about things like lag, boring play styles, fouling etc. NO BITCHIN' :D.[/color]

yeah i had a game with croatia they aint to bad but where are all the euro stars gone did they have a mass clearout there use to be a lot of very good players in the team some class players but they have all gone was it really that long ago they shook the world when they got to semis i think it was

As Blobber hasn't played any league games and hasn't responded to my emails I've got a reserve lined up to take his place in the league and World Cup (poor sod!).
There is room for another player to occupy the last spot in Group H, just post here or drop me an email if you're interested.
Happy with my group - poor old reserve could have a rude awakening to the world of Pro Evo :D

Groups E and G are both lethal - anyone drawn in there again the big hitters will have their work cut out. Had my first game with Turkey the other night - not bad at all. Nihat is super quick, Hakan Sukur is a bit useless but a good smashmouth player, Hasan Sas is pretty damn good and the rest are fairly decent. Tugay is totally useless though and I need to find me my midfield enforcer that my teams always need :D

Not a single attribute I normally rely on is there - pace, set pieces, a single sup-player.
Was getting annihilated by Baps earlier and notice that the ball does not actually stick to the feet of the Norwegians. It kinda bouces a few feet away when they try to control it.

I'm going to struggle with Norway.
They have no players with the attributes that suit my style. For the first game I had Iverson and Crapew on greys so played Tessem :| Once Bob scored I was always struggling.
Second game Bob grabbed one. I tried and tried to inject imagination into my game but Bob was hard to break down. He then slotted one in and that was it.
Looks like I am going to have to beat John316 to progress - but with Norway :cry:

First game saw Ono score one of his trademark 40 yard piledriver efforts that left Turkey scratching their heads in disbelief at. Was getting outclassed till injury time when the mistakenly left on Hakan Sukur bundled home an equaliser. Second half was one way traffic.
Second game saw an early lead scored by Tuncay but after John Carew skinned Alpay (WTF was that about Alpay???? Outpaced by Carew!!! :eek: ), it was very tough going for the Turks. Ono was quickly down to 9 men in the 2nd half but it had little impact as Turkey struggled desperately for the winner. Then, in 2nd half injury time, Hasan Sas forced home a stupidly messy goal to steal the 3 points. Another red card left Norway down to 8 men and staring elimination in the face! :eek:
Played a couple of friendlies with Finland, there soo crap.
Im going to struggle.
Just make sure you don't play me at any point - instant elimination would lie in wait for me :cry:
John is being polite.
I was struggling in both matches to string together passes. How Crapew skinned anyone is a mystery since the rest of the match he couldn't catch a through ball to save his life.
All I can do now is attempt to knock a few pass Dan and mitch and hope.

End to end game that was pretty close. 1st goal was a bit odd - ball hit corner flag and Daz couldn't get to it as his player got stuck behind the flag, my player rus over, nabs the ball, puts it back for a cross and nodded in from about 5 yards (keeper saved it then his feet kicked it in :D).

Good games, first game could of gove either way, end to end action, second game i took the lead after 2 mins, then was 3-0 up by 30mins, then teasy started attacking and played well, stayed quite up untill 60 - 70mins where i made it 4-0, then teasy pulled one back and attacked for the rest of the game with me having a few chances. Unlucky, gl in the rest of your matches.
This is going to be even harder then I thought. I'm going to have to get a lot of practice with Australia before playing anymore games. At least I've learned one thing, never play Mark Viduka :lol: (missed an open goal in the second game that would have made it 1:1).

Gutted with results, needed atleast 3 points. 1 games was pretty even, i had more chances, but couldnt finish, in the last minute of the game i think i hit the post about 5 times. How they didnt go in, i'll never know.
Second game i played poor through out, couldnt seem to get flow through my teams, but jonny played well, defended well, just couldnt get past him and he then hit me on the counter attacks, his left winger opened me apar. Well played mate. gg's.

1st game got lucky and scored with each of my attempts on target. To be fair to phayze it was his first game with Nigeria.
2nd game and Phayze scored a top goal, one two just outside the box and a chipped shot into the top right hand corner. I had a chance at 0-1 when Ronaldo got through but the goalie made a decent save the rebound was blasted wide by Kaka. Went for broke and got caught on the break and an easy finish made it 2-0.

Move your full-backs deeper then and it will help a lot.
I position them on my own corner flags if Im playing against someone relying on this tactic...seems to work quite well.

Well I've gotten to grips with Australia :) I took Viduka out of the team and replaced him with Aloisi and put Kewell on the wing (he seems to disapear when playing up front). This team just don't seem to have the talent to be effective through the middle against the quality of teams I'm playing (other then a nice individual goal I scored through the middle, but again that was Kewell :)).. The first game was extremely combative with a lot of chances and really should have been a draw. The second game also had a lot of chances at both ends but I think I deserved the win.

Sounds like the same thing I keep doing with Castillo for Rivaldiakos and Nihat for Turkey :D

Soundstyle totally dominated the first match, the score could have been a lot worse.
2nd game - Egypt stormed into an early lead with a stunning strike from Mido. It looked like Egypt might hold on for a shock win, but poor defence resulted in a goal mouth scramble, where France managed to toe-poke in an equaliser.

Soundstyle totally dominated the first match, the score could have been a lot worse.
2nd game - Egypt stormed into an early lead with a stunning strike from Mido. It looked like Egypt might hold on for a shock win, but poor defence resulted in a goal mouth scramble, where France managed to toe-poke in an equaliser.

Just glad I managed one point in the second game. That was one mad scramble on the goal line. Just kept on bashing the shoot button and it luckily went in.

Both very close games - Columbia's pace ripped my team apart - the US literally have no fast players. In the 1st game, My goal was actual pure luck against Belly when i rolled it across the front of the goal and the keeper just stood there and watched it and my player ran over and rolled it in.
2nd game was very close and looked to be heading towards a draw when a 93rd min cross landed on a Columbian ahead and BOOF! 1-0 :cry: Mind you, he had the better of the game and hit the post twice IIRC :eek:

First result was a little bit unfair I think. Good games Daz.

End to end game that was pretty close. 1st goal was a bit odd - ball hit corner flag and Daz couldn't get to it as his player got stuck behind the flag, my player rus over, nabs the ball, puts it back for a cross and nodded in from about 5 yards (keeper saved it then his feet kicked it in :D).

yeah thanks for the games. Latvia played out of their skins. nearly snatched it in the second at the end.
Going down to 10 men early in the first didn't help my cause either.

Mutu got his hatrick before Angel equalised with the last kick of the game. Thoroughly enjoyable game but feel a bit despondant with a 3-3 draw when the opposition had only 2 shots on target :)
Something a bit wrong with group F. Teasy has played 8 ie everybody but Ronaldo is still sitting on 0 games

I didn't deserve this game at all. Two penalties and two conversions (well, he actually saved the 2nd but Donovan rammed the rebound home). 1st peno was a definate (open net and about 2 yards out and I was brought down) and god knows how he didn't get a red.
2nd peno was very harsh (altho I did yell "penalty!" so it must have been a little of a hard tackle) as players jostled for the penalty. Other than that, it was very close and there was little between us.
I am really struggling with this team tho - they are cronically slow :(

Two good games. I felt you played very well with a very poor team. The first game you started very well and were unlucky not to score a couple.

Well, that was a flattering score. A jammy pen sent me 1-0 up, Saviloia is a diving little git if I do say so myself. Almost straight from the kick off Martins (I think) was one on one and somehow hit the post when he should of scored, and I could tell luck was on myside. Then a free kick from Aimair caused a pinball in the box, and an unfortunate og. The rest was just me shooting and scoring.
Phaze was having some problems with Bulldog :gag: when he tried to host, so we played 2 part games, one was 1-1 the other I was winning 1-0, let me know where you want to pick this one up mate.
Let me know when you want to replay the other game.

first game i think i could have played for an hour and not scored. every time i shot it was straight at the keeper! a bit miserable cause i played quite well. the second game was a strange 1 seemed reasonably square until looking at the stats. that Mutu can be a abit of a handful.
think a win each would have been more appropriate results (and an extra point each!)

No offence taken - I know its a very negative stance, but it works :D
I used to use attacking formations, but, with the teams I have i'd get ripped apart. With me, I try to play from the back, smothering the opposition when they try to get forward and minimize throughball oppertunities.
Playing like this means that I have less shooting chances but the odd goal or two often wins it and it has proven quite good for this (promoted to Div 1 and currently (touch wood!) top of the WC group).
As I say tho Daz, that second game, esp the 2nd penalty was very harsh.
Glad to know the formation is hard to break down - just the way I like it :thumbs: :clap: :p

OMFG down to 8 men after 50 mins for **** all left the Japs in pieces!!
Didn;t help that after the 3rd sending off I'd used all my pauses so bringing on a centre half for a forward did **** all and left him up front - 2 at the back with no centre midfield let the little pharoahs run riot - thank christ it was only 2.. :|

Two very close games, with end to end football. 1st game I was 2 down inside the 1st ten mins. Queue a calculated combeack by the US in the 1st half with 2 goals and two further goals in the 2nd half.
Second game was closer with the US scoring on the half time whistle. Queue end to end football in which PJG grabbed one and I missed a couple of seemingly simple one on ones.

First Game - Baps sneaked the win with a dodgy penalty in the 83rd minute, when one of his men tripped over his own boot laces in the box.
Second Game - I'm quite embarassed by the fact I could only score twice against 7 men! But then all my players were limping after being hacked to pieces by Baps.

Constant baps fouling took my best player out of the game and i have to make deal with a bunch of ******* fairies who cant hold onto the ball let alone turn with it.

Just wanted to say that there's still a mistake in Group F. I'm listed as winning five and drawing one from my six games so far. But I have actually lost a game so it should be won four, drew one and lost one (I lost and drew my first two games against Gangster).

1st game very tight - disconnect in the 1st half with Ronaldo9 1 up but won the 'rematch' 1 - 0 so both happy with the 1-1 scoreline.
2nd game completely different affair - chances for both teams, but a very dubious penalty put Ronaldo9 2-1 up. Equalised just before half time and nicked it in the 2nd half.
Well played Ronaldo.
