Bolch, i think our table is wrong.

I think finlab should have 3 point with goals for = 5 and against = 11

and pjg should have 5 points with goals for = 6 and against = 16

pjg should have one win and finlab none
http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5436462&postcount=215

This is before post 247 which hasn't been added to the table yet

Sorry finlab

Hello all,

due to the prof not knowing oasis were playing at hampden last night :suspect: he got home a wee bit later than expected so i couldn't get round to play my games.

Due to a new evening job as well i don't think i'll have time to catch up on all the games and since i've not actually played any, i will be pulling out of the world cup.

Many apologies
:(

I’d say the teams at the moment are too uneven. If we are going to use leagues with 1 or 2 good teams and the rest poor then the 2 good teams need removing or seeding to the poorer players.

There’s nothing worse than dominating an entire match but losing because you have an awful set of strikers and the opponent is a good team and has a striker that only needs one shot to score. Equally, it makes it nigh on impossible to play a decent PES 4 player with a good team when you only have a poor team.

It may be realistic in a way but it makes the leagues a tad uneven and I bet frustrating for many. I would say that the best idea is to use the top 15 teams for each division with no duplicates in each division.

That’s my opinion :)

Apologies Bolch. :(

Suppose as a wee consolation, it reduces that table to 4 teams...

I now pass on my 'Whipping Boy' status.

Who would like to take on that role... ;)

Maybe see you all in the next League/Cup.

Thanks to Bolch for the hard work, and Ono for starting it all off.

Cheers. :)

absolutely gutted. 2 golden one-on-ones in the first match, could not take any of them Lost !
Moko7t8 1-0 Phayze

Second game. I thought his first was off side. The second came late in injury time at the end of the first half. But worse was to come. 88th minute, 10 yards out, i jink free, it's me against the keeper, about to pull the trigger - huge push in the back, my stirker goes tubbling. Ref plays on. Nooooooooooo
Phazyze 2 - 2 Moko7t8

and Latvia's WC is over.

My mistake, I've just got one game to play against Gunner. Don't know what the results table looks like (or if there is one), but I've played Moko7t8 (w1-0, d2-2), Brendonw (L0-3, w2-0) and Gunner (L7-1).

1st game had to come back twice a little against the run of play. 2nd game Fred wiped the floor with me, 20 shots to 3 (13 on target). I think we had the maddest goal line scramble I've ever seen which lasted from 85 mins to the end all in the Swedish penalty area.

Well played and good luck m8 - you deserved more

 I was tearing my hair out in the first one when you equalised and by the end of the second game I was bald!

You played very well on both games and did very well to pull it back level, your counter attacking worked very well.

The second game was manic if we had mic's then you would have heard me effin and blindin at my strikers. I threw a double ended bath and a 1 1/2 kitchen sink and your defence held out really well, if it wasn't a block it was the bleedin post!

The last 5 minutes, it was wave after wave, I think my defenders were well over your half picking up the rebounds for another attack and my last chance rebounded off your keeper I think and I had what I thought was an open goal and my stupid striker hit it against the post! I was shoutin like mad at the screen!

You're a very good player and held your own, thanks for the great games and good luck for the rest of your games.

Guys - Just a quick note to let you know that I will be sorting out the tables etc tomorrow - the league tables are not so bad, as they are automated to some degree - Thanks to Ono for that apparently!

However, the World Cup isn't automated at all so takes a little more time to sort out - I'll do my best!

Will people get kicked in the coming days for not playing? Considering the original rules wanted ALL group games played by July 1st, we are absolutely nowhere near that. I've been all finished for a long time now and I sort of hoped that a smaller competition like this would see games played a lot quicker than this :(

LouBarlow
04-07-2005, 10:59
Smaller comps will always take longer, as you are always having to pick games from a small group of people - much harder to organise.

Which is kinda why I'm coming round to the idea of a masseeeve super-league of everyone, as there should always be someone to play, and drop-outs won't be missed so noticeably.

I'm coming round to it myself, too

I originally dropped out of the super league, but might opt back in for that reason. I am online at some point most nights for games, but I can't predict beforehand when that will be, so a super league might be better for me.

I have been through all the posts on this thread and the following people have said they are dropping out.

sapo
The Prof
dancleary1

The following people have still got games to play.

Group B

All players, but that's probably because Frank and Ricflair haven't played any games yet

Group C

All players, probably because hardtofin hasn't played any games yet, haven't seen him around in this thread or the league thread for ages, has anyone tried contacting him?

Group D

Just one game left to play between Phayze and Gunner, it could make a difference as well but unfortunately phayze is no away until the 10th :(

Group E

Soundstyle has now played 4 games with the above result so it's just his remaining 4 matches in this group so shouldn't be too long to go

Group F

dazkelly and gangster to play their games, could still affect the result.

Group G

As sapo has dropped out each player has 2 games each to play

Group H

All played as dancleary has dropped out. Just need to remove his results and goals for and against from john316 results

Sapo, Prof & DanCleary - Unless I hear differently by 9pm tomorrow you will be removed from the World Cup competition and all games played will be removed from the Tables.

Given that Bolch did originally say that the group stages should be played by the 1st, can I get some opinions on when we want to set a cut-off point for those players not caught up.

Frank has now said that he can get his games played, and I don't want to start swinging a big stick and kicking people out - how does Friday this week sound to everyone?

A disconect means you start at 1 - 0 to whoever was winning at the time, although with those scores it's hardly any different

yep, don't like the rule myself as it just gives an incentive for someone to disconnect if they are doing crap

3. DISCONNECTED GAMES
3.1 If you are disconnected then you replay the match with the current scores added to the replayed match (For league purposes the first match is always deemed as a 1-0 scoreline).

e.g.
Team A winning 5-0 against Team B before disconnection.
Team A wins 3-0 in replay.
Match result is 4-0.

Team A winning 2-1 before disconnection.
Team B wins 3-2 in replay.
Match result is 3-3 DRAW

Team A winning 2-0 before disconnection.
Team B wins 3-0 in replay.
Match result is 3-1 victory for Team B

Well played Frank. I've never even heard of Crawford, but I think he scored just about all your goals

Thought I might have a way back into the second match when at 3-0 Franks centre half decided to pass it past his own keeper from 20 yard  Would have been a travesty, though, as Frank was all over me in the second match

I MSN'd ricflair too, but his status changed to 'away' soon after so I assume he was not at his PC

That was the best own goal ever. Simple pass back to my keeper and he runs round the ball 3 times and then watches it slowly roll over the line  I was sat there helpless screaming at my poor screen!

Group A - Complete

Group B - 2 games remaining, Chet-lee vs Ric, cannot affect standings

Group C - 4 games remaining, Floyd & Jabra vs Hardtofin, will affect standings

Group D - 1 game remaining, Phayze vs Gunner, could affect standings (but unlikely given results within the group already)

Group E - 2 games remaining, Koranja vs Soundstyle, cannot affect standings

Group G - 2 games remaining, Drel vs Kipp, cannot affect standings

Feel free to begin Knockout stage games from now - as posted in the league thread, if myself or Bolch haven't heard from Hardtofin by Tuesday at 9pm he will be removed from competion. 2 ghey penalties in the 1st game (well the 2nd was NO penalty anyway :D ) and a lack of match practise cost me - had chances in the 2nd game to score a few first half, but gunner had loads of chances 2nd half, so a fair reflection.

:?: Isn't that a draw though, i don't think away goals count in this competition

2.1 HOME (host) and AWAY (client) matches to be played between teams. In the knockout stages games will be played over 2 legs (home + away) with the aggregate score deciding who goes through. In the even of a draw start another 5 min game with penalties on and kick the ball about ensuring a draw so it goes to penalties. Then use the penalties to decide who advances

So unless you already played the penalty shootout and just haven't mentioned it, you need to have one, sorry Matt

Don't know if this was meant to be done or not - need clarification from Ono or Bolch!!!

Well, two legged ties always use have used away goals in all DVD Forums games in the past? Indeed, both me and Teasy thought this was the case? Surely if we have 1 extra game over 5 mins would give the advantage back to the host?

Matt.Wild
12-07-2005, 11:24
BTW, I took draw as aggregate draw after away goals.

Have any of you ever watched the world cup, although the second round isn't over 2 legs, if it ends in a draw it's penalties (after ET) ok not quite the same but you get my meaning.
Spells it out in the rules IMHO

Drel
12-07-2005, 15:20
Yes but it is a game of two halves no?

daz_75
12-07-2005, 15:26
yes but that's only to make it fair on the home and away hosting aspect. Think of the 2 games as one big 180 minute game. The result was 2-2 so it goes to penalties

Unlucky Fred, didn't deserve to go out that way mate but we have to progress somehow.

So the offical decision is penalties then?

Reading through the rules again, I would say so, yeah.

As it doesn't mention Away Goals, we'll have to assume that they don't come into consideration.

Good luck, both of you!

Result of peno's is: -

MattWild 3 - 5 Teasy

Definatley think away goals should be done next time as the game before was plain stupid and because its over two legs as well.

Ho hum :(

Good luck in the next round

12-07-2005, 22:42
I agree that having to play a separate game to get to penalties is stupid.

Why not just set the 2nd leg up to go straight to penalties in case they are needed.

If there're not needed then just mess about with them instead.

Unlucky tho Matt, and good luck Teasy

Its a shame that it wasn't clearer tho, as I held out for that win and didn't push forward as hard as I would for a 2nd if I knew penalties would come into the equation.

Never mind tho :)

Why not just set the 2nd leg up to go straight to penalties in case they are needed.

If I win 1-0 in the first 'leg' and then lose the second 'leg' 2-1, the game will see that second game as a totally separate result and so won't take you to pens at all. Hence why you need to just do that 5 min pointless game to take you to a shootout ;)

I'd prefer the Away Goal rule to be honest but I can see why its not used for the World Cup as we're trying to follow the 'rules' of that competition but I suppose you could just turn round and say "Why have 2 legged games from the 2nd round onwards" :D

It would work some of the time tho  ;)

The 2 legs is to negate the advantage of hosting - in the real world neither team plays at 'home' (with the exception of the hosts).

Art Vanderlay
13-07-2005, 10:33
Just imaginge how cool the online engine for PES5 would be if one of us was involved in designing it. Be great to be able to select '2 legged game' in the options and have the host swap half way through automatically.

I think for future cups we should play the extra 5mins kick-about as a proper match, as if it was extra time, and only go to pens if that is a draw. Like in Euro competitions, where the home team for the second leg have the advatage of ET at home.

Not entirely fair, but less of a lottery than straight to pens

Matt.Wild
13-07-2005, 12:27
But surely that way the advantage of the extra goes BACK to the original host? Away goals is the only fair way of dealing with it IMO :)

Sweden (Floyd) 0 - 3 Bob (Rep of Ire)

Rep of Ire (Bob) 2 - 3 Sweden (Floyd)

Bob through 6-3 on aggregate.

I hosted both games. 1st game Rep Of Ire had the edge and it didn't help me down to 10 men in 2nd half (deserved 2 yellows  )

2nd game Rep Of Ire kept pulling my lead back but never looked like I was gonna pull the 3 goal margin back

OFFICIAL WC R2 RESULTS:

Jabra (Paraguay) 2 - 1 John316 (Turkey)
John316 (Tur) 3 - 0 Jabra (Para)

AGGREGATE: John316 4 - 2 Jabra

First game saw Turkey jumped in 2 odd mins as they struggled to defrost a long session in the freezer. Got it back to 1-1 before Rustu decided diving for a FK wasn't needed :oh-hum:

Second leg was very tight till near the end of the first half when Tuncay latched onto some lax defending from the last man for Paraguay. Second half saw two more quick goals from Tuncay and, in the end, a comfortable arrival into the QFs :D

Hopefully it won't be three weeks till that tie :suspect: :D

We'd prefer it if there was just one thread per format this game appears on (as per the rule of thumb for all other games). League organisers feel free to start a new thread.

I'd also suggest all members refresh themselves on the T&Cs of this site as we've noticed that these threads have generated a large number of reports to us.
