Hi,

I have just installed WinXP on my system onto a new harddrive. Then slaved my old harddrive to it. I would now like to use the File Transfer Wizzard to collect all my emails etc from the previous drive.

How is this achieved? As wherever I point the wizzard from the new drive to the old harddrive, it fails to detect either individual emails (.eml) or the usual .dbx files.

What am I missing? Or am I expecting too much fromt his particular application?

Thank you!

What mail program are you using?

Oops, sorry, I forgot to add that piece of vital information :(

It is Outlook Express on both drives.

You should be able to find the outlook .dbx files on your old harddisk and copy and paste them into the same directory on the new harddisk.

Unfortunately, that didn't work. I tried that last night without much success. I am hoping the file and transfer wizzard shall be able to save me from making a mistake :)

It may be something to do with the microsoft identity created being different from your old PC to your new one. Have you copied Just the files in the folder containing the dbx files or did you copy the whole folder including the one with the ID?

File and settings transfer wizard is usually OK for mail transfer from outlook express across pcs.

Final option is to just load to your old hard disk and do an export in outlook express , Boot with the new drive as master and import in.
