View Full Version : Xbox Joypad on PC w/converter - which?
Seems there are two sorts:
Smartjoy X USB Connector (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=83&products_id=2701&)
and
Super JoyBox 10 - Dual Xbox to PC Joypad Adapter (http://www.gameessentials.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=29)
Which one is best? Ideally it should allow ease of use, programable buttons, offer analog and digital controls for the buttons/triggers and offer force feedback function.
Responses appreciated.
Hi Matt
Sorry to hijack your thread but can I just get your attention about a thread you posted in the General Classified.

Thanks
The Xbox joypad is just a USB joypad with a funny connector on the end. GAME sell a converter for about 5 or 6 quid that will do the same job, or you can make your own from a spare breakaway cable and a USB cable. Just find a good driver and you're good to go (I use cuxctrl.zip).
Ah right nice one, I'll pop into GAME then, thanks. :)

I've got the second one in your list, although i got it off an ebay shop for about £8. Works fine and its got 2 ports so can be handy if you plan on play multiplayer.
super joybox 10 here and it rox - get it on ebay for about 7 quid and 2 quid delivery.
as pistol said, the cable makes no difference, it's just a basic cable, it's the driver that makes the difference, the xbcd drivers are good, you can find them here

I use THIS (http://www.whitedog.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=9_47&products_id=322) adaptor, and I have a great little set of drivers which also support using the Xbox Live headset as a voice/mic unit.

Hey guys i have an x-box pad but the main left analouge (sp?) is dameged. It wont go left.
Using those x-box converters i was hoping to use it on my pc with the d-pad and the right analouge and all the buttons. Can i configure it so that the d-pad comannds the left, right up, down up movemnt and not the analouge stick ??
Also using the converter can i use the analouge left and right shoulders buttons as analouge accelrate and break on pc games like colin macre need for speed like i would on say PGR on the x-box ???
Cheers guys for the info

yes you can do both thoes things, although you need to set it up in the controller config thing and will need drivers that support it, the ones i use do but i can't remember where i got them?

Already gone mate - someone emailed me about it yesterday :(
If you aren't afraid of a bit of soldering, head down to poundland for a USB cable, and snip and solder it to the xbox cable. Works a treat with the xbcd drivers.
