No doubt most people in here will be fairly knowledgable and have heard of the Gizmono (used to be Gametrac I believe).

Well, after being delayed more than most UK trains, it's finally arrived. Very few games to its name, even less good ones and yet it's a very intrigueing little handheld.

It's got pretty much everything and the best way to place it is somewhere between an N-Gage and a PSP.

I'm expecting it to be a bit of a white elephant. It's got a monster load of features but ultimately the games are a bit lacking (some big promises on the horizon though). All that can save it now is some decent games prior to the PSP launch.

So yep, I've ordered mine today, the new 'smart-ads' version which comes in at £129 subject to getting specifically targetted adverts which play back on the unit. Pretty cool idea and some of the ads will provide discounts and even tell you the nearest place to redeem the offer using the GPS feature!

A lot of potential - let's talk people!

Wicked! You've ordered a Gizmondo!

You've even outdone me and my naff family of five Wondrous Swans.

Kudos. >_<

I can imagine you'll be swamped with ads, though, being one of about 6.35 people in the UK actually capable of even viewing them...

although i think you deserve a new thread just for ordering one, would be interested in your oppinion of it. are you getting any games with it, like the lawnmowing one?

Cheers baps - had a scan through the last 4 pages and realised that this wasn't a HOT topic!!

:D

This'll be right up there with the Atari Lynx and the 3DO but didn't stop me from loving them either!

Let us know what you think of it. I think I'll order one too, although I'll wait for the bankrupt stock sale.

He he.

Well you know me, I'll be harsh but fair. I'm getting the standalone console for now and will look at which game to get.

Chicane is actually looking a lot more impressive now.

As a total geek I'm just fascinated by the GPS function and the overal potential of the console. Playing games and being able to send/receive texts on the same device (a la N-Gage which I also had) is a good combination for me.

Wow, I guess there was someone who fitted their target demographic after all :D

Well I'm into things like this in general. The device is technically very capable and well specced (don't think anyone really argues against that).

GPS is a BIG inclusion and has great potential. The camera is useful if not essential.

The only thing that I can really fault is the games - but of course this is the biggest reason why the Gizmondo WILL (and I'm sorry it will) ultimately fail.

But I'm hoping to get some good entertainment out of its abilities and there are a few interesting games coming out. I'm particularly looking forward to how Colors ends up. A game using GPS features is a novel idea.

One Gizmondo thread is more than enough.
