I am on R&C 3 but my daughters are still on #1. Somehow one of them has contrived to damage the disc so that you can't proceed after winning the hoverboard race (The PS2 locks up when you get given the Electroguise)
I was thinking that if they can get past this stage with a borrowed R&C then they could continue with the original disc (after saving)
The other possibility is a copy. I have already paid for the copyright and would not feel bad about replacing it with a copy. Can you copy PS2 games ?
What is the best way to proceed - the only other possibility is to buy the game again

Try contacting the software house.
You have bought a license to use the software and if the media it is on becomes damaged then some software houses will kindly replace it for the cost of the media plus p+p.
I believe some instruction booklets have details of this on the back cover.

and some want to charge £20 for replacing an xbox disk :(
Rent it from Blockbuster for a couple of nights....play past the part where yours gets stuck...save it...and then see if you can carry on with your disc.

I have a copy of R&C 1 to trade!
Tetrarch I had this exact same problem with my R&C disc... I managed to narrow my problem down to running at 60hz, and if I ran at 50hz this didn't happen. Strangely enough, it worked fine on a mate's PS2 even in 60hz - maybe a specific type of PS2 board or drive has probs with this disc?

Or just do this, but swap it over with your copy, and give it back. Opps did i say that :suspect:

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. How exactly do I run at 50hz then ?
Sorry for being dim

You could have the disc refurbished for a few pounds - for example, at Thatzdvd (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.thatzdvd.com)

most publishers will replace the disc for you. Look through the manual and give their CS a call.
