View Full Version : WWII arcade/flight sim for PC?
Anyone recommend a good WWII flight sim/game? Don't want anything too complicated, I don't want to ACTUALLY learn to fly before I can get anywhere with it. Just a bit of fun flying around, going on missions etc...
Would prefer something based in the US Pacific arena than "battle of britain".

Pacific Fighters (http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/home.php). From the same stable as IL2 Stumovik, so it should be pretty good. Think I might buy this one myself actually.
Cheers, loks good. Just ordered from Amazon along with a joystick.

Not sure of it was released on the PC but I really enjoyed Secret Weapons over Normandy immensely on the XBox.
You'll probably have to dial Pac. Fighters down a bit if you want something arcadey (if it's anything like IL2, at least - the settings are there to do this though).
If you can get hold of a copy, European Air War (EAW) would fit the bill - that's a class little sim with what was a pretty active modding community creating scenarios for the Pacific theatre & North African theatre...
Microsoft's CFS 2 isn't a bad Pac theatre sim, but it lacks the character of something like EAW.

Secret Weapons over Normandy wasnt great on PC, Id recommend any of Microsoft Combat Flight Sim series easy to pick up and play and should be able to pick up quite cheap

I wouldn't on the other hand recommend any of the MS combat flight simulators now that I have Pacific Fighters... it is far better but make sure also know how to fly the planes too... they stall at any slight provocation and you cant even notice it in MSC much which makes for a frustraiting game.
http://www.il2flying.com/content/section/1/2/ is a good guide to flying in the IL2 series of games.
