I dragged my Dreamcast out for a bash at the weekend but there was a problem when using a scart connector.

I tried two different cables but it would only provide a slight ghost image on the tv (black on black) and no sound.

It works fine with the composite leads so I'm at a loss as to why the scart doesn't work.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what might be wrong? The fact that I used two different cables suggests that the DC itself might be at fault...

Have you had a new TV since the Dreamcast and the scart cable last worked?

I only ask, because I had a problem with my Dreamcast and it's scart when I bought a new TV. Even though it was a scart adaptor, it was outputting svideo (I think) so I had to select the svideo version of the scart socket for it to work. Before doing this, the channel would autoswitch when I turned the Dreamcast on, but there would be no image.

If possible, then, I suppose I'm suggesting plugging your scart into an svideo-compatible scart socket on your telly.

If that doens't work, I haven't a clue! Sorry!

Your tv (or at least that Scart socket) is not RGB. The "black on black" is indicative of the DC outputting a RGB signal.

As for the lack of sound - no idea.
