1st off, the TV is a JVC 28X4 which I've just set up - but it has a picture tilt problem, where the screen dips on the right-side (not a problem I had with either of my previous widescreen sets) so how do I adjust it? It is very noticable - especially on channelswith scrolling text at the bottom of the screen as you can only only see the top haqlf of words as they come on screen, and they scroll uphill.
2nd, I've l;ost my Sky+ manual, so what code do I need for a JVC set? and how do I input it?
Cheers
Edit: Got the code off Sky's website.

Don't you have a gravity/tilt adjust type function in the TV's menu? Most TV's from the last couple of years have one.

Nope, according to the manual it dosen't.

it should/will have BUT you need to get into the service menu but getting into it and messing around are another thing all together.

The service menu isn't usually something connected with tilt adjust. If it's not selectable in the standard TV menu then there probably isn't anything you can do about it.

I had the same problem with My JVC TV. I called out the engineer two times to inspect and i was told that the TV was working " with its parameters" .
I also had problems with the geometery set up and managed to get the engineer to show me how to get to the service menus and adjust.
Mine, in fact is not that bad when i have compared it to other sets, and the geometery is now not to bad after I have adjusted.
I think unless you speak to the shop that you brought it from you are going to have to live with it.

Cheers for the repies - I'm waiting for the shop to get back to me.
On closaer inspection it may be geometry rather than screen tilt at fault, as watching scrolling text like on |Sky news, it appears that 2/3 of the screen are fine, then it dips dowmwards to the corner, but on-screen logo's at the top look fine.
You could always move nearer the equator where the earth's magnetic field/tilt is not as strong :p

I must wonder if JVC employed Stevie Wonder to set up the geomoetry on my TV, as the picture which was way off centre (vertically). Fortunately, the service mode is very easy to access (Sony take note).
The JVC telly (32") has a tilt option, but on the same 28" model the option is removed.

How do you get in the service menu then?
hold 'i' and 'mute' down on the remote - be careful!

Cheers, I'll make sure I note all settings down before I make any changes.

Well I've had a look, but not changed anything. Which option do I pick for geometry adjustments?
Having tried teletext it is definately geometry rather than screen tilt as the bottom of the screen is straight till the last quarter then dips, but is straight at the top.
here is a copy of an earlier post of mine
btw - i accept no responsibility for any mess-ups that you may cause, so read it carefully!
The service menu is accessed on the remote by pressing the "i" button and mute at the same time.
to adjust the geometry select option 4, the other options are best left alone. Before you adjust any of the settings be sure to write them all down so that you can return them to the defaults if you cock-up.
You will need to write down the settings for all picture modes, panoramic, regular, 14:9, 16:9, 16:9 subtitle, full.
You should select Panoramic mode first because when altered it changes all the others modes as well, so you need to go into them one by one after, to redo them if needed.
To move between the modes in the service menu press the red button on the remote.
The up and down buttons on the remote moves between the different settings the left and right buttons change the value. Press "OK" to save changes or "i" to go back/exit.
If you change a modes settings save them before moving on to the next mode or the settings return to the previous value.
Please note you can completely knacker the TV in the service menu so only
make the changes if you are prepared to take that risk.
The guarantee will not cover meddling with geometry etc, in the service menu.

When i go into the service menu my TV automatically goes into full, how do you get i to go into the other modes (Panoramic etc). Do you just select the mode from the handset as normal?
Pompeyfan has the same problem as me, but I don't think adjusting the Geometery will get rid if this.

Managed to change mine last night. Changed the Panaromic first and this only changed the settings for the Full mode which actually improved the geometery, any ideas why it only changes the Full mode and why?
Could not get the slight downward bend in the bottom left corner of the screen and the slight rolling of titles coming down the screen in the panoramic mode to go away.
Would not like to do this on a regular basis as a mate rang up as I was half way through and I pressed the wrong button on the handset and the screen went to half size (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!) managed to exit the set up with out saving to get out!!
Kyle255 this might be because your TV is not NTSC compatiable.

Wise advice, which I now pay attention too as opposed to a few years ago where I managed to knacker an IC chip on a 25" Sony 4:3, purely by altering the settings in the service menu. Also, making a note of the original settings is essential before any meddling ... I really cannot stress this enough.
Important safety tip !!!
if you are planning to change any tv settings via the service mode -

I went into the service menu - never changed anything and came out, but for some reason the problem is nearly gone, and the corner that was really bad isn't now.
