What no thread? :suspect:

Im hoping for a decent game tonight, hopefully we will be talking about the football not the bitching or food fights :D

Come on Arsenal!!!

Anticipating a 2-2 draw though with Chelski almost guarenteed as champions (as if they aren't already)

The winner of this match will win the prem.

Chelski still have to play both Utd and Arsenal, lose them both and the race is on again. Chelski are also still due their bad patch soon (I reckon easter)

 ok......

Obviously hoping for a draw in this particular game, also want to see Dowie's Palace pull off a win and really help their survival odds.

Tut Tut Mr Cole - hot on the heels of Mr Vieira trying to start a ruck in the tunnel, you produce a dive every bit as bad as the one Rooney was pilloried for in the last game. Still, at least n00noo will stop complaining about THAT dive now anyway.

Quality game so far. I walked away for a minute to grab a beer from the fridge: did Rooney get a yellow? He was dangerously close to it before, and during that last incident they were talking about him walking a tightrope.

There's enough support from Giggs and Ronaldo (not to mention scholes) upfront imo. The game is still anyones.

To be fair, I think he's going to extremes to keep things under control.

As a neutral, apart from the penalty, he's done well. Could have easily sent Rooney off for the tirade after he was booked but has obviously taken the circumstances into account.

Scholes had been in-effective. I hope Utd go 4-4-2 with Saha and make a real fist of it.

I'm hoping for another 3 goals but tbh I can't see how Ronney is going to escape being sent off. The ref considered booking him, then booked him, then considered sending him off. With 45 to play....

Excellent game though.

Edit: looking at sportinglife - it looks like Liverpool could get a bucketload in the 2nd half. I hope not (nothing personal swanny) - I need Charlton to win - I hate football predictors - I always get so close and then liverpool screw me!).

There's nothing like being chastised for bias by someone who in the same breath writes about how he wants Utd players sent off and loads of goals past them. Yes, Paul, you're a paragon of unbiasedness. I have read your many vitriolic posts on the liverpool thread - about how much you hate Utd and everyone associated with the club - so you will forgive me if I find your chastisement amusing.

C'mon - You're winning (and it's a great 2nd half by Utd) but Poll missed a blatant penalty for Arsenal in the 1st half along with Bergkamp's breakaway given offside...

That said, I'm sure Chelsea are laughing their ----s off.

I don't think he speaks for any! Poll has never been a bad ref for us - certainly not against Arsenal. (prior to this I believe his 3 games with this fixture has seen 2 Utd wins and a draw).

If we don't win this, it won't be poll's fault that is for sure.

Cracking goal from JOS. Glad the arse are gonna lose now after Cole's pathetic dive at the start. If that'd been El Hadji Diouf diving like that everyone would have gone bonkers!
The Irony being that Ronaldo didn't go near cole all game because he knows cole has the beating of him in all probability. He goes to the other flank, Giggs kills cole and Ronaldo kills Lauren

Fantastic game, and goes to show that the title race is not over yet (unfortunately for me). Confirms what has seemed apparent for a while now, that United are the remaining threat to Chelsea. Although I was hoping for a draw, and a United win is more dangerous for Chelsea in the long run, pleased to see Arsene choke, as his diatribes in the last couple of days have shown his lack of grace to the fullest.

It's not that the team winning tonight would suddenly have more of a chance than yesterday, but rather that losing tonight would probably mean it was all over for that team. So the team winning tonight kept their slight chance of winning - that's all.

...but if you look at when Chelsea play Arsenal / Utd, it's at the end of April. The title could be over by then.

Radio 5 were suggesting that Chelsea could afford to lose 5 games towards the end of the season and still garner enough points to win the title(stats based).

I guess if they don't slip up in the next month or so, it's definately done.

Keane was the one reacting angrily so it's a fairly safe bet to assume that Vieira tried a few mindgames. It sounds like he was telling players he'd kick them about the park in revenge for Utd supposedly doing the same last time.

Oh dear, what a dreadful display in the 2nd half. We need Toure and Gilberto fit and another top-level striker available for when Henry is not scoring. Gifted them the first and third goals and denied a definite penalty. Ah well, Chelsea still going to be Champions so at least it's only academic for this season.

EDIT: And why are people debating what happened in the tunnel? No-one will ever know what really happened and Vieira and Keane will obviously have considerably biased viewpoints.

In 9 minutes, you've gone from a "slight chance of winning" to no chance of winning.....despite winning ;)

Arsenal desperately need to eject Almunia in the short term - he is perhaps one of the worst keepers I've seen this year and doesn't seem to anything going for him at all! And what can you say for Cygan?

And with Campbell now looking like he is crocked again, the Arse are really close to just hitting the fan in the PL now

I'll hand it to Utd though - the damn sods just keep coming like the T-1000 even if they don't have the players they had 5-6 years ago

It appears Viera has had a go at Neville's attempt to grow facial hair...

...( I may be reading between the lines here)...

Anyway, said it before, I'll say it again, a fantastic 2nd from Utd. Didn't think they had it in them but it was oh-so-more straightforward than I thought it would be.

No post-match title concession from Arsene? Thought he'd be straight on to hand the title to Chelsea, congratulate United for such a strong display, and wish them luck in the final battle? :?: :?:

In all fairness i don't think the ref was going to give a penalty either way tonight after whats been said in the paper recently...

Fair play to Utd they won that fair and square. They looked better all over the pitch and made Arsenal's defence look like a complete joke.

Almunia is officially a joker and Pascal Cygan is one of the most awful lumbering defenders I have ever seen. I also thought Lauren went AWOL and PV4 once again failed to take a hold of the midfield. Some major defensive signings are needed to get the team back on track.

Must say that at 35 Dennis Bergkamp was magnificent - undoubtedly one of the greatest footballers of the last decade. Shame the same can't be said about the Arsenal defenders.

I also have to say that Cole was a disgrace - no need for that dive whatsoever. :nono:

Which maybe true....

...but I thought he had a decent game tonight. Campbell, however, may have had one of those "I don't trust him" nights as he seemed to blitzing all over the shop in an attempt to help out whilst leaving other areas gaping.

Agreed.

Again, I agree.

In a week where Everton / Boro have both admitted an FA charge over being over-zealous i.e. not controlling their players where a ball was clearly loose, then I hope that that dive incurs twice whatever both clubs incurr.

Was amazed that Cole did not get booked for that dive :cuckoo: I think he was lucky that it was so early in the game.

Bergkamp looked like a spring chicken, far and away Arsenal's best player.

I thought the whole game changed when United took Bergkamp out of it - he was magnificent in the first half, but absent in the second.

Great performance by United and a deserved win - but what a great game of football. I know Chelsea are far and away the most consistent team this season, but both United AND Arsenal would have done them tonight.

It will probably make no odds in terms of the title this year, but it's great to see that both teams are still up for it - that's five games in a row that Arsenal have failed to beat us, and we've won the last three.

And four months ago they were calling them Invincible!

The difference this year is that Arsenal / Chelsea / Utd are all capable of fielding a team that you'd say "yeah, that's a Championship winning team".

But, beyond that, both Arsenal and Utd struggle. I don't need to name them, but there are players in both squads that would not make Chelsea's first or second teams.

The difference isn't great between squads, but the team Chelsea put out on Sunday was suppose to be a shock selection...8 (?) or so players rested but if you look at the team it's nowhere near a squad team - it's good enough for a top 4 finish in its own right.

That team selection was : Cudicini, Johnson, Huth, Terry, Bridge, Cole, Smertin, Jarosik, Duff, Gudjohnsen, Kezman.

Chelsea have been very fortunate with injuries, it may have been different if the likes of Terry, Lampard or Duff had been out for a few weeks.

Duff was out for the first three weeks. Robben was out for the first nine. Whilst I'm a Man U supporter I still think Chelsea would have won as their defence is far superior and Utd wouldn't have had the same chances.

Oh well another title defence another year without a championship.

Fair play to United they played well second half and deserved the victory for the second half performance alone.

Arsenal need a tuning up, sorry but we dont have anything like any strength in depth or any class when needed, i was down the pub watching it and i was mouthing off to myself cause we just cant hold leads, how many times has it happened? Chelsea this year, i can remember loads of times its happened in the past, we need to learn from George Graham a while back LEARN HOW TO DEFEND! look a Chelsea solid as a rock.
A goalie is a must, Almunia looks like hes taken some crazy pills before each game, hes a muppet.
Im sooooooooooo frustrated cause after last season i thought we would build on this and go from strength to strength but it hasnt happened, we need new WORLD CLASS players to freshen the team up, otherwise we can look forward to finishing third every season.

I can't even blame the officials in tonight's match, Utd beat us fair and square. Bergkampy had an excellent game, seemed he was the only one up for it.

I don't think Utd will catch Chelsea, but they will come second. Lehmann will be rubbing his hands after tonight.

Duff was out for the first few weeks of the season, Drogba and Robben also had lengthy injuries

edit: as has Carvalho, our first-choice centre-half, dragging our first-choice left-back Gallas into his place due to another long-term injury to Huth (who has just got another long-term injury on his return)

Yeah Chelsea have had their fair share of injuries. Crucially though, for me their 3 most important players - Lampard, Terry and Makelele - have always been available for selection - and Mourinho never leaves them out of a game that matters.

Ye have so little faith my son! even if we go on to lose, you can't argue with 3 goals at highbury.

That's right, wait till were ahead before pulling me up on that! ;)

Still, until Ronaldo played more central in the 2nd half, we were far too lightweight in the centre i felt.

Fantastic win, just hope we can put even the slightest bit of pressure on Chelski. Until the summer at least, were on a level playing field with them, it will be interesting to see how they react now.
I guess we'll find out tomorrow night against Blackburn.

That's very true - I'm so glad that Maka has been receiving more of the praise that he deserves this season: after a season of acclimatization to English football he has proven to be an absolute worldbeater in terms of his contribution to a winning club: Chelsea's stability in comparison with the flakiness of Madrid has proven that. Ally that with the fact that JT is homegrown and Lamps was bought before the Abramovich revolution, to the great amusement of most observers at the time, and you have the central source of continued admiration amongst most Chelsea fans for what is now happening.
