Shallow Hal, imho the trailer shows the best bits. Still fairly enjoyable, not typically the gross out comedy that the Farrelly Bros deliver. 6/7 outta 10

The new Hughs Bro film on their take of Jack the Ripper, was OK. It wasn't received too well. But I quite like the film, at times slow, but enjoyable.

The Hughes Bros film (From Hell) is their take on Alan Moore's take on Jack the Ripper. If you're even remotely interested in the subject matter I'd recommend checking out his graphic novel of the same name; it plumbs depths the film couldn't ever hope to reach.

Incidentally, the US print of From Hell has been liberally trimmed. The Hughes Brothers have been talking about the "European cut" in some interviews - presumably this is the one that will be released in the UK in February.

I have seen the US version (obviously:)) and thought that it was good. I actually got the feeling that some stuff had been taken out because the film looked like it was going to be very violent in pieces but it would then cut to another scene.

I enjoyed it but I do think a cool DVD is in order to show us the uncut version :)
