I thought the Pompey Penalty was a soft one. :nono:
They are now down to 10 men with 15 mins left.
A replay me thinks.

shocking sending off.

Why, he blatantly handled the ball and that is a yellow card, unfortunately he had already been cautioned so off he goes.

The penalty had the end was wrong but why did the defender have his arm out, had he kept it down by his side he might have got away with it.

fair point but the guys assumed a foul, not stopped a thru ball or shot, technically correct I suppose but a bit harsh.

Never assume 'til the ref blows his whistle :nono:

I don't think he assumed a foul, he fell over and he probably knew it, he assumed that grabbing the ball would sway the ref. Either way, ref had no choice, I thought he was lucky to still be on the pitch after that over the top headbutt anyway. Nothing shocking.

Thought both pens were harsh but maybe that evens itself out, meaning a deserved Soton win. Good game though - entertaining.

Spurs get a reply at WHL after a draw at WBA. Not bad, another good game so I hear (will catch it on MOTD later). Would've preferred to avoid another match, but it's not too shabby a result.

Oldham 0 Bolton 1 (Vaz Té 9)

Lee Clegg put Bolton and England U-21 right back Nicky Hunt in hospital with a late challenge that Alan Hansen called disgraceful and Alan Shearer claimed he went in with intent to hurt the man, never looking at the ball.

Who will be the first to start a thread slating Clegg for a potential career ending challenge? No one I'd guess, El Hadji "dives" and he is public enemy no. 1. Can anyone else sense the hypocracy?

It was Lee Croft who made the challenge though and a bad one it was. I wonder if the FA will look at it as the ref didn't even give a free kick did he ?

As a side issue Mick McCarthy has to be the worst co-commentator ever.

that was definately one of the worst challenges I have seen for a while.

You could tell there was no intent on playing the ball by the way his eyes went like a wild man and he was completely focussing on the player
:oh-hum:

Dreadful, called every decision wrong and failed to have even a basic understanding of the game, how he ever worked in football is a mystery.

So, budgenk, what rule of the game was applied by the ref so that Boro weren't correctly given a freekick after Terry's blatant obstruction ??

The rule that states that only a team playing in the match can be given a free kick?

Lee Clegg ....

Clegg...

If your going to start calling people at least get the name right.

Your post elsewhere after finding out that Hunt was going to be ok, "That'll be a blow to the Oldham fans", is ridiculous, not all Oldham fans wanted the guy injured :oh-hum:

By grabbing the ball it would also suggest he wanted a free kick when he was never touched
