Seems that the Sharp & Samsung screens are different after all. If you only ever see the Samsung "inferior" screen you'll never know but compare the two side by side...

Could just be nonsense but seems like an odd thing to make up...

Oh dear... NOT!
That's the old "fake" picture that goes around and has been going around for weeks. It's got nothing to do with actual PSP screens. You are not comparing 2 PSP's side by side. They are just a dubious series of pictures of 2 screens that happen to belong to those 2 brands (supposedly).
This is not information. It's just part of the rumour flying around.

Shplendid.
I guess a few of us will know soon enough either way. Thankfully mine should be a Japanese PSP.

That's the annoying thing about that rumour. It just keeps doing the rounds but there is nothing to subtantiate it except that meaningless picture. And that's rather good news.
As you said, we'll know soon enough...

Good question. But I believe that Sony have something to do with Samsung at least. But it's no shame to use someone else to make a component for you if they can do it better and cheaper.

Why on earth do SONY let SAMSUNG and SHARPE to make screens, don't SONY make screens to?
how many of you would actualy play the with psp turned to one side any way ?
wouldnt that defeat the object of having a screen on the front ?
Why on earth do SONY let SAMSUNG and SHARPE to make screens, don't SONY make screens to?
Have you seen up close how great the SHARPE screen is? I think that's reason enough.

whats funny is LG make a lot of the tubes in Samsung monitors/tv's as well.

Let's face it, until the US and UK PSPs are out we won't know for sure. Anything else is just speculation.

The Sharp screen is very nice, but it's not perfect - there's a lot of ghosting with it IMO. It doesn't 'ruin' games, but it is very noticeable on titles like Ridge Racers and Vampire Chronicles. Maybe the Samsung screen will have a better response?
As stated above, it's all speculation until someone with a bit more authority than a random bloke off the internet tests the two screens side-by-side.
Personally I suspect that there will be differences, but 99.9% of the population either wouldn't be able to tell the difference and/or wouldn't care any way.
How do you find Vampire Chronicles? Is there much Japanese in it? I've thought about getting it, but even though I'm currently living here my Japanese is not great. Reading kanji (the Chinese characters) is a major no no, but the other 2 character sets I can manage to read, if not understand.

Samsung make tons of stuff for Sony. Sony pulled out of manufacturing from a lot of highly price competitive areas a few years ago because it was losing money on them. A lot of the time now its basically rebranding and restyling other people's products. Sony only manufacturers higher margin stuff nowadays like its top end models in most ranges and its trinitron tubes and tvs. Basically its just too expensive to make a lot of stuff in japan and the chinese basically hate the japanese so japanese factories in china haven't always been successful. Sony's logic is to tie up with samsung who produce high quality goods and have low cost chinese factories. The chinese are very found of the korean's generally. They watch a lot of korean tv and films.

The options are all in English mate - the fighters' stories are in Japanese, but they're really not important.
It plays well - slick & smooth & is groovy if you like 2D fighters. My only moan (once again) is with the PSP's shoulder buttons, which aren't really upto the job.
