Much much much better line up than the Cardif gig shame it's too far away from Majestik central.

Excellent line up (despite Texas :gag: ) - just got a couple of tickets, although their web ordering didn't work for me for some reason. Had to call the SECC instead.

You an also buy tickets from the SECC box office and SECxtra in St Enochs Centre.
You could pay cash there.
Online system refused my Visa card at first, but eventually managed to get 4 standing tickets. There still seemed to be plenty of tickets left, but it's a pretty good line-up so I imagine it will sell out.

That's a matter of opinion. I'm not saying That Franz, Travis, Fanclub et al aren't excellent bands, but surely not much, much, mcuh better than Keane, Snow Patrol, Embrace, Manics & Kelly Jones? And remember this was all organised in three weeks. I'm sure other bands would've played if there was more time to organise it.
You must also take into consideration that a real attempt was made to cater for a mass audience - 65,000 not the much smaller audience that the SECC will hold (5,000).

Yes Teenage Fanclub and Belle and Sabestian are much, much much, much better than keane and Kelly Jones.
But then a double headliner of Mr Blooby and Cliff Richards would be much much much better than those two.

Add Mull HS and Mogwai to the bill. And, incredibly, Deacon chuffin' Blue and Edie Reader. Charity night or not, I sense violence. Bands are apparently doing 20 mins each and won't do 'hits'. FF talking about collaborations or brand new songs.
I got tickets via the web but am still waiting for e-mail confirmation, so am a little anxious.

20 mins each eh? How cool would it be if Mogwai just did one song - My Father, My King. They would scare the living crap out of 99% of the audience :D
Time ajw receives new card=11am
Time last tickets sold out this morning=10am
ah well, saved £60!

JUst checked the Secc website and it appears that there are limited tickets available for REM at the Secc on Feb 22nd.
Just incase you fancy that instead

 £77 for 2 tickets! Its weird, I've seen them on every tour since the monster tour, but am just not bothered this time around. I'm sure even on the up tour they weren't £35 a pop!

They were pretty pricey. I paid £28 + fees for the MEN gig on that tour

I know it's steep but it's nothing compared with what I am going to pay for U2 tickets tomorrow !
The REM reviews and the pictures that I have seen have all been good.
Stirling Castle was £25 + booking fee

Do they really think they are going to keep to those way to tight timings?????
Trying to get 14 bands to play over just 4 hours is insanity

Yeah, 2 minute changeovers seems a bit optimistic to me - barely enough time to let the applause die down and take out the guitar leads, and I'd be very very surprised if they were all using the same drum kit, amps etc.
I agree there seems to be too many bands on to make this workable in 4 hours, although i reckon there will be a few collaborations between bands.

If they manage 2 minute changeovers, I reckon old Dick Pound might want some urine samples of the roadies!! Total insanity. This gig is gonna stretch well into the next day, I'm sure. Take a sleeping bag!
SS
Thinking about it it is actually possible to do this. Last year Little Steven put ona Garage show and they used a revolving stage and at the end of each band's alloted time the stage would revlove to reveal the next band and the kit changeover was done on the vacated part of the stage

You can buy the gig on CD, incidentally. I've posted details to CD Times. Good price considering how long it's going to go on for!

I heard that the compere is going to be Craig Hill - wee baldy gay guy that looks like Jimmy Somerville but not as funny as Jimmy.

No-one else? Great show with affectionate and appreciative crowd. Mogwai took the roof off, I thought Franz F were absolutely ON FIRE (and threw in a couple of refrains from Nirvana's "In Bloom") and I was really happy to see Eugene Kelly do "Jesus Don't Want Me ..." Teenage Fanclub were the only disappointment, finishing with a new song that was a bit of a dirge TBH.
Ran like clockwork too with only a few minutes changeover time between sets.

Yeah not a bad night, with Mogwai and Idlewild being the highlights for me. Teenage Fanclub were ok but suffered from sound problems and could have picked a better set i reckon - although always good to see them playing.
Only really 'meh' band were Texas....couldn't wait till that set was over although i'm sure plenty of people disagreed with me.
