On first listening this sounds like a really good album from the 24 year old Nebraskan. Conor also releases I'm Wide Awake It's Morning on the same day, but this is the heavier of the two. Lots of drum loops and interesting vocals.

After having two singles at number 1 and 2 in the US Charts, this album should be very successful.

I didn't realise that Willy Mason once went backstage and woke up on Bright Eyes tourbus and then went on to write Oxygen after being inspired by him.

much prefer 'im wide awake and its morning', the other one sounds more like a rehash of Kid A.

Each to their own, but I really like Digital Ash... keep listening it's definitely a grower.

Like both...

...but prefer "I'm Wide Awake..."

I've got both on order with Amazon. I suspect I'll be picking up more of his work if anyone's got any further recommendations.

I love both but I liked Willy Mason's album 'Where The Humans Eat' better.

Got into them a few years ago, but i cannot work out for the life of me how they managed a US No.1 AND No.2 single!!!!!!!

Does anyone know how this happened - it's not even like Conor changed his sound to resemble Usher or something!!!

Is there some kind of fan conspiracy?

It's just because it was well marketed and given a big promotional push last year and it now looks as if Bright Eyes will do quite well over here.

How about my ryhme? Got potential? :D

Listened to this again recently. Can't believed this thread got to 11 posts without anyone saying "Son of Robert Smith" or equivalent. I'm not saying that sounding like The Cure (in parts) or anyone else is a bad thing; I quite like derivitive music (it all is :) ) and I like this album  apart from it's 'reggae' moments :(

So how does "Lifted Or The Story Is In The Soil Keep Your Ear To The Ground" sound ?

It's cheapish at CD-Wow ; just wondering whether its worth the ££££.
