Too right as well, was stupid enough to goad the Kop and got pelted with a mobile phone for his trouble
too right???? this sort of thing go's on all the time. if he scores at the kop is he supposed to run to the other end of the pitch to celebrate?
Sadly he knew exactly what he was doing, needs to learn now before it spirals

Nothing will happen, if it does it sets a precedent that opposition players are not allowed celebrate in front of opposition fans.
Never gonna happen
i think and hope you are right joconnor for the sake of football

Crazy.
The amount of time I have seen this before, & I cant remember any of them getting charged.
Its daft if he's charged. If supporters are going to give you stick, its only right that its rubbed right back in there faces if the player scores

Didn't Steven Gerrard do a similar jesture at the derby match at Goodison a year or
two ago, but instead of just standing there he ran alongside the whole stand with
his hands to his ears.

How about Robbie Fowler getting a 3/4 game ban for his goal celebration in front of Everton fans a few years back ...
Mind you, I was forgetting ... it's one rule for one another rule for all the rest.

i think simulating sniffing white lines is different to putting your hands to your ears
I don't understand what the problem is, did he just stick his ears out or did i miss him doing something else?
Surely he was just telling them to shut up, can't see the problem myself

How on earth can you compare simulating taking a class A drug with a 'I cant hear you' gesture?
As funny as what Fowler did was, it was much different.

he wasnt snorting anything :oh-hum: he was chewing grass   as a liverpool fan you dont wanna see a bluenose (still make me smile that one)bang in any goal against you never mind a manc judas bluenose but what do you expect a kid to do if your gonna goad him from the start?lets face it fat head is volatile at best and he will either learn to curb his temper(doubtfull) or he will possibly wreck himself.either way he shouldnt be repremanded imho.

To charge him for celebrating would be stupid. I dunno why so many think Rooney will turn into some wreck of a player if he "isn't taught a lesson now". He is not Gazza.
As with the Fowler celebration, if fans give it out, they should be able to cope with getting some back.

When Sutton scored against Morecambe in the FA Trophy on Saturday, a player did almost exactly the same thing. I expect he'll be getting charged as well.
Can't believe this was even on the cards - what has the modern game come to?! Football players who've received a bit of banter from the crowd have been doing this for donkey's. I recall Mr Beckham doing it quite a lot - it's just some retribution for any crowd chants and, IMO, Rooney's was superb!

gazza never banged a 48 year old whore so he has already surpassed gazza lol.rooney has a self destruct button plain and simple and could easily turn out to be another gazza imho.

Players such as Henry and Lampard have been "hushing" the opposition fans after scoring all season and charging them has never even been discussed.

did you even see the size of that mobile lol no wonder he through it lmao.i have a old 6210 some where im taking that bad boy next time im at anfield lol,why trade in when you can through it at fat head
It's not the fact he was celebrating that got me, had he been just taking the Mickey even, it wouldn't have been so bad. The problem was his agressive attitude. Did you see his snarling face? Had he ran up to someone on the street an used that stance and expression, he could have been done for threatening behaviour. Why is it that so many of England's top young players are such....?

Monda, 35000 fans spent the entire match giving him dogs abuse. One fat sack of **** even got pictured crying to a policeman about it.
It's about time all these hypocritical halfwits stopped crying about players getting their own back.
I hate football "fans" sometimes.
Forget "why so many of England's of England's top young players" being arseholes - why are so many football fans complete arseholes. If you think Rooney could have been charged for doing what he did on the street, what the hell would happen to the scumbags who think they can sing, say, scream and throw anything they want?

It's not just his attitude towards fans though. He shoved Bolton's defender Tal Ben Haim in the face, he had to be taken off before he was sent off against Spain. He gave Sven loads of abuse for taking him off. He just gets totally belligerent if things are not going right. He needs to calm down fast.

Rooney was recently banned by The FA for his elbow on Bolton's Tal Ben Haim and he could face another suspension in they take action over this latest incident.
erm, did I miss something? Rooney didn't put his hand in Ben Haim's face, he elbowed him, this time next week he'll have shot him in the face infront of the ref :cuckoo:
Good ol' Sky Sports reporting again!!

I totally agree, he needs to calm down - but the abuse he's been getting from fans is far far worse than anything he's dished out.

Don't like Rooney - he's a snarling nasty example of a footballer IMO.
BUT, the idea of charging him for that on Saturday is laughable. I bet if all the Liverpool fans look back at their goals over the last 12months they'd see a few gestures to the crowd from their own players. Happens all the time.
Its crap like Boa-Morte's challenge yesterday that should be clamped down on, not Shrek putting his hands behind his ears in front of the kop ffs!

Comming from scousers it was proably stolen.
(I don't mean it, it's just a cheap shot based on stereotyping, please don't steal my cars wheels)
Rooney reminds me of a young Beckham. That cupping of the ears thing is so Beckham and his aggression/childishness takes me back to how DB was before he got sent off against Argentina. If Rooney can curb the nonesense like Beckham did, I think he could win us the World Cup, if not he could cost us it.

England winning the world cup with Shrek?

if a player has been getting it from the crowd all game they should be able to give a little back. but they can't, fans being fans and fans being short for fanatics means there is always going to be some nutter in the crowd who might just have smuggled a knife into the ground and throws that instead of his phone. players need to be very wary when they run to the opposing set of fans. i think ferguson and all the other managers need to have words with their players and get them to realise its not very clever to wind up potential nutters. i think we have all stood in the stands (or sat) and seen somebody who you think is behaving like a madman and you try very carefully to avoid his attention cause you imagine if things dont go his way something might come your way even tho you follow the same team. you might think i'm overreacting but its only a matter of time before a fan and a player end up scrapping if this form of celebrating a goal continues. if your fans are at the other end of the ground celebrate with the rest of the team, away from the byline.

" I noticed that the referee ran over to the 4th official after Rooney scored and handed him a mobile phone which had been thrown from the Kop. You cannot condone that sort of behaviour, but Rooney was asking for it" - Commentator on EPSN Asia just after Rooney's goal
Well alls well and ends well for roo :)

I think it was last season, and I think it was Ruud Van Nistlerooy, who Everton threatened to report for celebrating a goal in front of their fans.
But the best part was the clip they kept showing on Sky Sports News to go with the clip of the Everton fans yelling at him, sticking their fingers up at him and giving him the old masturbater signs. Completely ridiculous to take action against a player when they have to deal with that during a match.

Last Saturday against West Ham, when Paul Ince scored to put Wolves 3-2 up he immediately sprinted over to the away section and celebrated at them, including the 'thumbs pointing to the name on the back of his shirt'.
They booed him at every opportunity, even when he was doing the warm up and he came across to the away area. They booed every touch he had and chanted 'Judas' at him during the match so fair play to him for sticking it back to them.
I don't see anything Wrong with Rooney's taunt. If the crowd had rioted or invaded the pitch then fair enough charge him with incitement but nothing nasty happened so I don't see what the problem is.
I seem to remember Robbie Fowler running virtually the length of the pitch with his hand cupped to the Everton fans when he score at Goodison a couple of weeks ago too.
I agree Rooney is a nasty piece of work though. At the Wolves v Everton match last season he performed a two-footed sliding tackle on an onrushing Paul Jones as he slid to collect the ball before Rooney. He got there before him and Rooney conneted with his face leaving a nasty red scar when he eventually got up!!
