He should be named & shamed.

Have to say 6 months is a joke really.
Needs to be a least a year, would be even better if it was 2.

On BBC Sport as well:
"FA bans unnamed player for drugs

The Football Association has banned an unnamed player for six months after he twice tested positive for cocaine.

The player first returned a positive finding early in 2004 and appeared before a disciplinary hearing in August of the same year.

He was ordered to reappear in April 2005 while his case was reviewed but was caught again when drug-testers swooped between October and December.

UK Sport claim the player received his ban and a fine in December.

In a similar case, another unnamed player has been given a suspended six-month ban after twice testing positive for marijuana.

He was due to re-appear before a disciplinary commission in September 2004 after returning a positive finding but he too was target-tested and was found to have used the drug again.

The FA have given him a conditional suspension of six months, suspended for two years."

Can anyone think of any players that have been "injured" since December?

Bosnich got 9 months for cocaine and Mutu got 7 months. I wonder what makes this case special that he only gets a 6 month ban even though he's failed twice?

I belive it is a lower league player, so would not present the same deterant as a high profile player like Mutu or Bosnich.

Obviously, no names but I think it's a League 2 player.

I suppose it will be a bit obvious when this player doesn't start another game for the rest of the season.....

The Beeb say 'Football League rather than Prem'.

For a split second, I was thinking of a certain player, but I can't believe it would be the case. With the above note on the article, I can rest easy.

Could be this guy (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rushden_and_diamonds/4148909.stm), bit pointless withholding his name if it is as the club have publically said he was suspended for drugs

You're talking about the FA here - common sense doesn't always seem to apply! :D

Apparantly some players who have failed drugs test in the past have just pretended to be injured rather than have the real reason for their absence announced (when I say drugs I mean recreational - not performance enhancing).

Without Reading the Link i believe Billy Turley (sp?) from Rushden was suspended for testing positive twice.

Do they intend on telling us who the guilty party is?

Given that the BBC site says its a squad player from a league cup, I imagine even if we did know we would never have heard of them anyway
