Surely Paul Durkin should be considered as well? What does everyone think? :)

:luv: He loves him as much as we do!!! :luv:
Even before he signed!!! :D
Durkin's ok, the best ref in the prem at the moment is the new one, Clattenburg I think is his name. Worst has to be Riley and I think he's in charge of our game against Villa tomorrow :(
Graham Poll is the man! I sat next to him on a plane a few months back, he was a great bloke, chatty and didnt mind talking about football the whole flight!

Paul Durkin retired from referring at the end of last season. I do agree with you about Clattenburg but unfortunately as this is his first season in the Premier League he is not yet a FIFA official so he can not be selected for this.

...and Paul Durkin was furious about having to retire by all accounts. After a shakey start, definitely one of the best refs of the last few years...probably the best since Keith Cooper (or whatever his name was)
Poll is too officious for me. If I see his name on the back of a programme before a game, I do fear the worst as he is prone to having an absolute stinker every now and then. That said, out of the senior refs, he's the best....but the competition is very poor. Riley anyone ?
The crop (crap ?) of new refs I've seen this year (and last) seem pretty good so hopefully the signs are good for the future.
Wonder where Rob "Rolf" Harris is now ? What a nightmare he was.
Rob Harris is now a referee's assessor, I remember that cock up he made at Tranmere a few seasons back when he allowed a team that were down to ten men to bring on a sub and play the rest of the match with eleven men.
The main problem with Graham Poll is his overuse of the whistle, for me a good ref should be able to let the game flow and not stop it for every physical contact.

A gem, indeed.
I witnessed one his displays at Goodison against Middlesbrough. He gave a freekick close to goal and, as is the norm, proceeded to usher the defensive wall back the requisite 10 yards. The wall (5 or 6 players) refused to move past 8 yards so he marched back to the ball and moved it back (i.e further out) another 2 yards in a kind of "that'll teach you" type gesture and then threatened to book the taker for complaining.
 - I think these two incidents kind of sum him up.
