Hi
Does anyone have any opinions on the Pioneer DCS 100 for an all-in-one system for a fairly small room? Is it multi-regionable, either via a handset hack or via chipping?
Alternatively, does anyone have any other suggestions for an all-in-one? I'm looking for a system that plays CDR's as well as DVD / CD's (so the Sony 300 is out) and don't want to break the bank! A separates system is also out, as space is limited and I've enough remote controls already.
Thanks
Dave

I know quote a few forum members have bought these recently so should be able to shed some advice. As for comparing it against the sony 300, the pioneer soudns a lot better, BUT it does not sound as good as, for example, a Sony DAVS800 or Pioneer NSDV88. But don`t let that put you off, its a good system compared to the other models in that price range.
As for price, check the bargain forums..... :)

I've had mine for about a week now, got it from Justin from his forum members offers, it's multiregion from them too :)
First impressions, it's heavy :) , sounds great and will play anything I care to chuck at it (CD's and 160kbps mp3's sound excellent !)
Volume wise it's not the loudest out there but for a small room it's more than adequate, I've got quite a large front room and it's really plenty loud for that, just not deafening. One thing to note is the units size, it's slimline but very deep 320mm ? or something like, it only just fits on my shelf underneath the TV.
The picture quality is very good and the sounds are excellent (well it is a pioneer) plus there's plenty of sound options to play with, most of which you'll probably never use, but it's nice to play isnt it :)
I demo'd the DAVs300 and to be honest it doesnt come near this unit in terms of sound quality, picture quality probably about the same though.
All in all if you want a neat no-nonsense system for a decent price I'd recommend it.
