Juan Pablo Montoya has questioned the record of his predecessor David Coulthard at Formula One team McLaren.
Coulthard moved to McLaren in 1996 and raced with the team for nine years before joining Red Bull Racing in 2005.

But Montoya - who is now paired with Kimi Raikkonen at McLaren - hinted that Coulthard had underperformed.

"David had his chances and was here a long time - (his team-mate) Mika Hakkinen won two world titles in that time," the Colombian told the Guardian.

Montoya has won only four races in four years of Formula One, compared to Coulthard's 13 victories in 10 years.

But the 29-year-old is confident of a sharp improvement under the wing of McLaren supremo Ron Dennis.

"My old team Williams said I should be fitter, but did nothing about it," he said.

"I'm getting a kick out of working with Dennis. They're motivating me a bit more and I never had that at Williams."

What a moron! Always criticising others and never taking any responsibility for any failings. The second to bottom sentence about his fitness is laughable - right.... so the team have to make him fitter! Muppet!!

I'm not a Coulthard fan, but compared to Montoya I'm starting to like DC who recently seems to have become more humble and whines a lot less than I seem to remember....

JPM is a moron!

It's funny, because (as pointed out in the article) DC actually has a better wins:seasons ratio than Montoya, who sounds like he's already making excuses for Raikonnen inevitably outperforming him ;)

He has a point about DC (an underacheiver, for sure), but it's not like his own F1 record is anything to shout about, considering how highly he's rated. If he wins a few races this year, instead of just getting pole positions and chucking them away, and matches Raikonnen, then I think he'll have something to shout about.

Coulthard is a complete waste of time.

All those years at Mclaren and he didn't achieve anything.

I can bet that JP will achieve more than Coulthard ever will.

That remains to be seen. Personally I still think Raikkonen will be the better performer of the two once Montoya has settled in.

Perhaps Montoya will even experience the same favouritism for a Finnish driver that Coulthard himself endured and Montoya wil become exactly what he was criticising.

[Off topic] I see the Sauber C24 was launched today and again will be powered with Ferrari engines. I thought I read, in the aftermath of their move to Michelin, that that would bring about an end to the 'relationship' between the two teams. I guess not. Well not yet at least.

Anyhoo let's hope this years car fares better than last seasons. They have an interesting year ahead. Will Jacques cope with Massa being faster than him? I'm not sure that dumping Felipes food in the bin will psyche him out like previous team mates.

Maybe he'll demand total access to the T Car and Massa can use the C5 as his spare.

[/off topic]Will JV still try the pscyhological games? I mean he's no longer the undisputed "top dog" in the team (after his absence from F1) so he may be more wary of upsetting others.
