Joining 2 previous Pluto and Tesca campaigns are two more volumes of the CGI series, Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles - The Hydora Campaign and Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles - The Tophet Campaign, coming out on February 5th with MSRP US$25 each, in full frame and DD 2.0
This sure signals that the studio liked the sales of two separately released, with rather a big time gap, volumes and we will see all the episodes!

Are these actually any good?
Speaking as a fan of the movie would I enjoy them or are they "cleaned up for TV kiddies" versions?
Other TV sci-fi I like of a similar nature would be Babylon 5 and Space Above & Beyond (shame it was cancelled). NG onwards Trek doesn't usually involve me that much although there is the odd gem like the TNG ep. "The inner light".

:( im afraid.
I see a couple of episodes on sky and frankly it was dreadful, but then again compared to the movie there wasn't really much hope, unless they decided to make the CGI series an 18 certificate.

Well the graphics are great and movements and overviews of the base with all the ships flying and futuristic trucks riding around are awesome. The walk, they talk, the shoot and they kill. Plus it's the only sci-fi CGI series, not counting some REALLY kiddie crap like ReBOOT and War Planets.
Roughnecks are way better than all nice and friendly Toy Stories/Bug's Life and even Shrek, it's closer to Final Fantasy!
Check out these couple of quicktime clips, beautiful graphics and nice score/music:

This is excellent news.
Would hardly call it "cleaned up for TV kiddie crap" - unless that involves the deaths of major characters, mental breakdowns, racism, mutation and ongoing character development.
The tone is a lot closer to Heinlein's book (e.g. the series features other foes, such as the "skinnies") but it has enough of a connection with the movie, for all the fans who like both.
both will def. be on my list. :D
