Ghibli Films To Get The R3 Treatment.

I just read that IVL (a HK dvd company) will be releasing Totoro and Kiki on the 11th of next month (English and Chinese subs), and coming in june will be Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Whisper Of The Heart, Porco Rosso, Laputa, Only Yesterday, Pom Poko.

Regardless of being a fan of the studio, or already own the R2's (jap) it will be interesting to see how these are handled

Here's hoping that they use the same transfer as the R2 Japan Ghibili disks.

£13 a go is a lot better then £29 each.

Or will I be forced to spend more so they match my R2 Totoro, Kiki and Yamadas on the shelf ;)

Lets hope it is anamorphic or with a widescreen print at the very least ... finally I can buy all the ghibli cartoons for under £15 each!

Further updates sugget IVL is the HK distribution arm of Buena Vista - quite what that suggests I don't know as BV have to be one of the most inconsistent DVD producers out there!

With any luck they may just use the Japanese masters of the discs, but then again, maybe not, especially when you consider the titles scheduled for June will not all be available on R2 DVD at that time.

Wait and see approach I guess - but like Bedford says, this will be interesting :)
