Just been over to the unofficial Criterion site and they have both The Firemans Ball & Loves Of A Blonde in the coming soon section!!

At last his early Czech stuff is getting released on DVD. Hopefully they'll do a few more of Forman's masterpieces as IMO he one of the greatest directors of all time.

If I had a top 10 I think his One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus would be in there.

Although I know the link to that site you could let other people know it (unless you're being greedy :D).

...ahh... this one (a personal favourite) is available as well, in France (anamorphic 2.35:1, mono sound, French subtitles can be turned off via the remote)...

Hendrik I could kiss you! :D I've been looking for Ragtime for ages, hopefully it is a good transfer - have you got it?

The Criterion link is:

...kissing's not necessary, thank you!... yes I own the disc, and yes, it is a 'nice' (not a spectacular!) transfer (this is a French DVD - from Opening - after all!) ... the sound is 'ok' mono... the disc even includes a nice bonus in the form of a 28-minute 'Histoire du Ragtime' featuring jazz pianist Philippe Carment...

I say: Enjoy!

Woohoo! Best thread in ages!

At last, some obscure Milos Forman titles out on disc. The best director of all time for me. I'd not only have Amadeus and One Flew Over in my top 10, I'd have them in my top 2!

Hendrik, what kind of box is that French Ragtime* in? I couldn't see a price on that link either.

There is a AFI Directors Series Milos Forman disc available on R1. It's a 60 minute interview with him and most of the main cast members he's worked with. If you're a fan it's an excellent buy (around $10).

*Ragtime is still probably his weakest film. Forman isn't too happy with the released version. He didn't have final cut and felt the film was an 'amputee' when Dino DeLaurentiis chopped a 20 minute sequence. So maybe it could get the Spec Ed treatment at some point!

...the 20-chapter French DVD-9, released by Gaumont/Columbia-Tristar Home Vision, comes in a keepcase from MDV Packaging; there's a four-page inlay (the Philippe Carment short is also chaptered btw)... as for an SE of Ragtime: Mr Forman, I fear, doesn't have enough 'clout', nor have most of his movies been huge, or even respectable, popular successes, to warrant special treatment (in the eyes of the 'bean counters', that is!)... more's the pity!

HELP! OK so I'm incredibly thick and can't speak a word of French (and the server at work is blocking Translate websites) so how do I buy Ragtime on that site?
