Street Fighter II petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/sf2j/petition.html)
As you may know, Manga has recently released the excellent Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie in the UK on DVD. Unfortunately, like the US disc - it only contains English dub and has footage missing, due to the Japanese version being so different - having both versions could only be acheived by having a version per disc.
Now they are saying they will only release the Japanese version if there is a demand for it. Now we need to demand.
This isn't only a petition for anime and Street Fighter fans, but for those who want the industry to know we want to see our films as originally intended, not a poor edited version made to 'please the Western audience'.
Make yourself heard and feel free to add comments in the field provided.
Thanks.

20 posts isn't bad considering I haven't told many people about it yet...
The petition closes on January 2nd so I hope to get quite a few signatures by then
Please spread the word

All for a good cause as I've had the privilage to see the film with it's orginal language (I'm number 32), and I very much doubt I'd be best pleased with what seems like an inferior track when the original "can" be made avaliable. I'm not buying unless the sort it out (however I would think that Madman.au might have sorted it out before Manga get their act together).

I thought that the current UK release had all there was to see of Chun Li... but I had heard rumour of their being more. They really must leave little to the imagination then?!
There's a lot more to it than that - the Japanese soundtrack truly is superior to the Western releases and the missing footage makes the Japanese version essential.
Sign the petition if you want to see for yourself :)

I'm considering getting the R2 disc... but I'm sort of meant to be boycotting it to persuade them to release the proper version :D
Keep up the support, its looking good so far. Show them we wont stand for second-rate DVD releases :p

I've got a mention in the 'Anime news' section posted on the front page of DVDTimes by Dave Foster.
Hopefully that will give us a further boost :)

I'm almost on an average of 50 signs a day :)
I was thining of randomly picking a signer and giving them the DVD if it gets released, but I'm not sure if that's fair and would be considered as a method of 'winning a vote' ;)

What currently is the best version to get ?.
Is there not a Jap/Chinise version ?.

I take it the UK version has the swearing removed ?.

Unfortunately, all of the versions available are so bad, its not worth getting. I - along with many, I'm sure - are still waiting for the definitive version of the anime.

In theory, the Japanese R2 NTSC disc would be the best, as it is the best version of the film and has a documentary feature on the games themselves. However, this DVD is only worth getting if you speak fluent Japanese, as there are no English subtitles. :(
