Hi chaps,

Been mulling over upgrading from my 50hz 28" Sony IDTV to either a 30" or 37" LCD TV or 37" or 42" plasma.

I've read some good stuff about the LG RZ-42PX11 and it seems to have a lot of useful connections for the money (around £1500).

Any owners of this panel care to comment? I've been impressed by the Panasonic panels but the cost mounts up taking into account stands and connection boards and I quite liked the picture from a DVD on a cheap Samsung panel (well its was Curry's finest set up display  ).

How many RGB scarts does the LG have?

Are they noisy? i.e. hums, buzzes

I'll be connecting my Toshiba SD900e (up by component), my Pace Sky box, Humax PVR and Xbox (all via RGB scart).

Also how much is a 20 month old Sony 28DX40 worth with over 3 yrs left on it warranty (mint condition too!)?

Thanks,

Damian

But its black!

So that comes with a desktop stand?

Does it have component inputs as standard or do I need a scart terminal thingy?

Have you considered DLP Rear Projection? I was looking at plasmas, but after I saw RP DLP which is also 720p native (i.e. hi-definition capable) I was converted. Pop down to Comet and have a look at the Sagem running hi-def material.

Hmmm...saw the Samsung one and it looked okay.

I'm only about 2 metres away from the screen though.

You have a choice of free terminal board. :)

You need to be further away than 2 metres for such a large screen.

There are quite a few available now. Sagem Axium (+ a new model in January), Optoma RD50, Samsung (x2), Toshiba and LG.

Several have a Faroudja scaler built in which significantly improves low quality feeds like Sky and Freeview.

The panny is not future proof for HDTV via sky, if thats an issue? There is a HUGE thread about the LG over www.avforums.com in the plasma section, it should hold all your answers
