Any body on the forums got one yet. If so what's your verdict on the console build quality and the games?

Hopefully one will arrive on my doorstep next week with ridge racer. (fingers crossed)

Any body played Metal Gear Acid - Is it playable with the japanese text etc?

Thanks,

martinrk

I would also be interested in anyones view on metal gear acid.

I have played on PSPs in the shops (Can't open mine until christmas, even though they are right next to me) and the quality is really good (build and picture). I have tried twisting them etc. but not got anything to pop out.

Hope this helps

thanks, i was concerned about scratching the screen and if anybody who's imported had the dreaded lcd dead pixel problem?

Do the import websites honour the warranty on kit such as the psp?

There are some decent Metal Gear Acid impressions here (http://tokyopia.com/tk/archives/000410.php#more)

With regards to dead pixels, Sony won't accept returns from any retailers over the issue, so I can't see any retailers accepting them back from the public :/

I'm in the position to comment on a few things....

Dead pixels, I've not got any on mine although I'd be supprised if they show, the higher the resolution of the screen the less likely it is to show (and the more likely you are to get a few!)

I think the issue with DS and dead pixels is because you wouldn't expect to find them on a screen of that size, just my two pennies worth..

Keep your PSP in a case and buy a good quality micromesh lens cloth and you should be ok, if you abuse the screen....its going to show the scratches

Build quality reminds me of a large Sony Minidisc player, the load mechanism is delicate and if treated hashly its going to bust for sure, this didn't Sony selling shed loads of MD players, and therefore I think its fair to say the same for the PSP.

Overall, the case is less likely to show scratches than the DS, the plastic seems to be slightly stronger, over all good build quality, slightly "firmer" than the DS.

Games wise, I only have Ridge Racers at the moment, and it is outstanding...the most impresive handheld game ever, its not as playable as Mario 64 DS....but it sure looks mighty fine :)
