Wondering if anyone can help me out. Going to order some DTS disks soon and wondering what the best are?

Only heard one - Galaxy Guest in DTS and that was stunning apart from being a crap film.

Cheers

Yes, but the R1 has DTS-ES 6.1 Discrete, where as, correct me if I am wrong, the R2 does not.

God, do not start that again - technically it may be better but it is up to the viewer in the end what they prefer if any!

Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter Criterion Collection has the best DTS soundtrack I've ever heard on DVD.

Jurassic Park 2 :TLW was the best DTS I heard on Laserdisc, but I've heard the DVD doesn't have as good a DTS track.

They quietly re-mastered it with the missing LFE track.

There is an absolute difference between the DTS and DD tracks IMO, espically during the opening battle sequence and in the Colissium (is that how you spell it?)

I think they were talking about the difference between DTS and DTS-EX.
The R2 version is demo material anyway. Terminator 2: U E has a great DTS track, and I noticed one on Enemy at the Gates R2. Any good?

How many DTS titles have the full 1.5 mbit bitrate rather than the usual 0.7 mbit?

Just bought this on the forums and will report back on the DTS track.

Kit Taylor I read in Home Cinema Review that Jurassic Park, Twister, Galaxy Quest and Lethal Weapon 4 had high bitrate tracks.

I'm curious as to why Galaxy Quest is rated so high in the DTS ranks? I bought the "full-bitrate" DTS version hoping for something spectacular, but was disappointed to say the least. I've heard DD 2.0 tracks that were better.

R1 DTS-EX, 6.1, full 7 channels

R2 DTS-EX Descrite, 5.1, 6 channels with the 7th matrixed (embedded) in the rears stero channels.

I really don't think most people who be able to tell the difference as the result would be the same anyway.

Really???, i'm quite chuffed now then.

I had it on today and this is one of a handful of discs that i know of were you can change the audio on the fly, thus making it easier to judge the difference between DD, DTS and Pro logic.

I have to say the Battle Royale DTS track is really good, put the Dolby Digital one to shame and the Pro Logic one is laughably inferior (although not unwatchable).

I'd love to hear Fight Club and the Matrix in DTS.

I think you mean DTS-ES. Discrete mode has a fully separated rear channel, rather than a matrixed one.

The French disc of le Pacte des Loups (Brotherhood of wolves) has a cracking DTS track that had me jumping out of my chair on several occasions.

Sorry to all non-French speakers, though as there are no English subs on the French version.

Another fine French DTS soundtrack is on Les Rivieres Pourpres (Crimson Rivers).

The French do seem to get these things right.
