Hi,
Pippa sugested I ask you this question. I want to buy a potable DVD player with screen. I'm moving to the States soon & most of my DVD's are region 1 but i have a few region 2's so I'd like to get a multi-region player if possible. I've seen the Panasonic DVD-LV60 advertised with a "software multi-region" hack - presumably some kind of firmware upgrade?? The price here is c. £700 but I can get it for less than $600 in the States. My question is: does the US version play PAL DVD's/VCD's and is it likely to be tweakable to allow multi-region operation.
Thank-you
Gordon

Well you can actually get it for about $520 online and it plays MP3 CDRs, so sure is able to play VCDs, but I don't think it can play/display PAL format.

AVOID buying ANY panasonic dvd product other then region2 or 3! The "cheaper" other region products are designed slightly differently to reduce costs. On the old models (IE L10) it was simply a case of soldering adding additional video memory to the empty ic llocation on the PCB. new models physically don`t have the space to do this, and as such will never read or play PAL discs, so avoid at all costs if you want multiregion!!

Check the forums for the LV60 anyway:)
