Anyone know what the Bfi disc is like? or suggest an alternative please?

I don't know, but it says (on play 247) that it's 'digitally Remastered From a Restored Print' , which may (even though it's the BFI we're talking about here!) mean that it's the recently restored version with the opening credits with the director and his cast etc. It also features a commentary:

Digitally Remastered From a Restored Print
Commentary By Christopher Frayling
Short Film 'Screening At The Majestic'
Picture Gallery
On Screen Film Notes and Biographies

Given the price (£14.99 at play) and the average, expensive Criterion alternative, it's already in my shopping basket! It's due for release on 19th Nov.

If this is as good as it might be, and given the quality of Tartan's recent Bergmans, perhaps the BFI and Tartan are finally getting their act together!

I'm thinking about getting it next month so if you get it before then can you email us about picture quality etc please?

No problem...except that I'm off to the US for 2 weeks tomorrow, so it'll be early December before I get a chance to see it!
