I usually go for Riteks but is there something better i should be buying now?

I don't mind paying a bit more to get the quality.

I think FUFIFILM and CMC dyes are supossed to be the best at the moment.

Riteks have apparantly done downhill recently.

I have also used PIODATA [Pioneer] discs to good effect.

I'll second that about Ritec - I've not been impressed with the 8 speed blue's at all.

Will be looking at other disks on next order.

....what sort of price are the Verbatim's - look quite a bit more expensive to me?

TDKs are suppose to be one of the best if not the best - as long as they are the ones made in Japan - and funnily enough i'll be selling a few sets in the classifieds soon :)

Shouldn't that be two sets?

Taiyo Yuden are allegedly the best of the bunch at the moment.

I agree, move away from Ritek as the quality on some discs is appalling, i am currently using F03's (Fuji), but will be moving onto CMC's on my next batch (IIRC these are what Verbatim use! but much much cheaper)

lol, i said few as i have some +r, some -R, some 8x and some 4x. I assumed it was ok to sell 2 of each - thats ok isn't it (and thats not suppose to sound sarcastic just in case your taking it that way - genuine question)

Yeah, and i believe the Japanese TDK's are the Taiyo Yuden ones, at least thats what i have read on certain forums.

I was using Taio's but the last batch have given me problems, & at 75p a disk they're not cheap.

Just gone for some CMC dye, but they don't seem that brilliant either. will go back to Ritek next its what I always used to use, should never have changed

 75p?

You should have checked out my trading thread a few weeks back when i had some TDK's (which are suppose to be Taiyo Yuden) at 36p delivered.

But hey quality costs, & 75p is still cheap, just not that cheap if the burn fails.

Well, without opening the case and testing them, i couldn't say with 100% certainty, or at least i wouldn't want to expose myself to hassles later. But from what i have read, if its made in Japan, its the good stuff, if its made in taiwan, its the not so good stuff.

I don't undersatnd the point of buying all these expensive discs.

I just use cheap bulpaqs and they have been working a treat for me.

Not had any coasters and the disc still work 8 months down the line.

Why pay more?

I suppose for imposrtant data, it's worth having good quality discs, bit for general burning the cheap ones are fine for me.
