Woohoo I can’t wait for this.

Is it true that it will be uncut?

Fox released Family Guy over here uncut (15 cert) so I shouldn't imagine Futurama would have any problems, it's much tamer really

I'll do some checking

Go <a href="http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified.nsf/BBFCStandardFrameset?OpenFrameSet&Frame=BBFCLower&Src=_s5trmaojjd5q6abq3dhgn6sr9cpkmap1edppmcbp44h9maobicdk3ujrgcln4crridkj42tbkdt374obdcli00_">here</a> and do a search for Futurama, some of the extras has been classified..

Yes mate, £40 is too much. I hope R1 will be £17.99 from Play ala Simpsons.

Why Not? Is Futurama not as well received as over here? Simpsons was same worldwide release futurama i guess would be the same! But as usual whichever is first i'll get (R1 or R2)

I believe Futurama will be delayed in the US because of syndication rights, much like Buffy.

syndication will delay the US release for upto 5 years, unless Fox US buy back the rights (unlikely as it's very expensive to do) or if they had only arranged a short syndication period.

Pitty :(
May be r4 then. I refuse to buy £90 x files box sets, so I won't pay it for this, however much I love the show (can watch it every week on sky).

I have to agree with Davester here (except the bit about Sky cos I'm too tight to get it :D)

£40 is a bit too much, let's hope the price of the R4 version is reasonable if R1 is a long way away.

BTW how many episodes of Futurama were there in the first series?

And while we're on the subject:
Does anybody else here like Futurama a lot more than the Simpsons ? And I don't only mean the Simpsons of today but also the Simpsons when they were still great ?
Don't get me wrong - I really like the Simpsons, but somehow Futurama seems to be a lot cleverer and far more inventive.

I think SvenL has a point to an extent. I am a huge fan of simpsons (watch it every night on Sky without fail) but I really enjoy Futurama. I think this may be because its 'fresher' as every1 is used to the simpsons. Also with it being set in the future they can play around with gags more. Like the alien who ate the hippie and it had an effect on him: quality!!

I think you mean here (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=2&articleId=3058) ;)

According to http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Search/TitleSearch.asp?title=futurama the R4 is scheduled for March next year -- a bit of a wait to save a tenner! ;) However, they also have series 2 scheduled for June -- any announcements on the R2 yet? (Well, I say "R2" and "R4" but chances are they'll be dual-encoded anyway ;))

I know - what else do you want!? :D

all joking aside, I would assume only the packaging would be in German, audio will be in English.

Agree. Bound to have more than one set of audio tracks and subtitles.

woo hoo!, can't wait for the aired christmas episode.

I've heard rumors of a 2nd christmas episode that was just too much for the networks to take. Was that ever animated and just not shown, or was it dropped before being produced.
