Does anybody know of a release date for E.T.? The bloke at HMV said that he thought he`d heard a rumour of a release date before Crimbo! Anyone else heard of anything on the grape vine?

Nah - its released in the US at the cinema again in March 2002. Prob over here not long after, so a DVD release would be about 5/6 months after that in R1 - so approx. Aug/Spt 2002...
If Im correct the uk cinema release date is in April.

Although it's a little bit close to March, it should be noted that June 11th 2002 marks 20 years to the day since E.T. premiered in the US, and just happens to be a Tuesday.......;)

Heard rumours they're going to go back and re-edit the film with new scenes, additional CGI effects and small changes to illiminate any violent references. I believe its got something to do with the recent terrorist attacks.
I personally don't think they need to do anything to the film; a classic is a classic! However, I personally don't ever want to watch the film again, so if they did, it wouldn't really matter to me!

They were already doing that before Sept 11th. There are sites on the web that detail some of the changes - can't remember the URL's at the mo tho...
I read somewhere that they were going to make E.T. completely C.G.I. In my opinion this will ruin the film, I loved his little shuffle.

The DVD release will have both versions, the original, and the re-release version with cgi-ed out guns etc.
i saw the trailer the other day they put in additional footage like E.T have a bath with elliot and given him more facial expressions
Also when he drink the beer you will see him gulping it down on his neck
Also Harrison Ford was in it orginally as Elliott's Principal maybe this will be put back in
Also a weird Fact ET Voice was done by Debra Winger of Officer and a Gentleman Fame:eek:
