ATTACK OF THE CLONES
There is unrest in the Galactic Senate. Several hundred solar systems under the leadership of the rebel leader, Count Dooku, have declared their intentions to secede from the Republic.
This separatist movement has made it difficult for the limited number of Jedi Knights to maintain peace and order in the galaxy.
Senator Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, is returning to Coruscant to vote on the critical issue of creating an army to assist the overwhelmed Jedi...
10 years have passed since the Battle of Naboo. Queen Amidala has stepped down from the throne to pursue a new role as Senator for the Naboo. Anakin Skywalker has been a Padawan under Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Senator Padmé Amidala has returned to Coruscant to participate in a vote of great importance to the future of the Republic. After narrowly avoiding an assassination attempt that leaves her loyal body guard Cordé and a number of others dead. It also leaves the Nubian damaged. Padmé hurries to the Senate.
Meanwhile Chancellor Palpatine informs the Senate that Padmé is dead, only to be shock as she walks into the Senate arena. After attending a meeting with Chancellor Palpatine and members of the Jedi council it is agreed that Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker will guard the Senator as her life is clearly in danger.
That evening a second attempt on her life is attempted by a Bounty Hunter named Zam Wesell. The attack is thwarted by the two Jedi Knights, who then give chase to the Assassin droid that has been sent by Wesell. Obi-Wan ends up being carried through the cityscape of Coruscant as Anakin pursues in a bright, yellow hotrod. Eventually the Jedi spot Zam Wesell, who takes flight and a further chase ensues which results in a crash.
Obi-Wan and Anakin pursue Zam Wesell into a nightclub and eventually capture her. They drag her outside but before she can talk she is assassinated herself by a mysterious 'rocket man' who flees the scene. It is agreed that Anakin will depart with Padmé in disguise to Naboo. They will travel on a public freighter to avoid detection.
Meanwhile Obi-Wan searches for answers to the mysterious dart like weapon that was used to kill Zam Wesell. He meets with his old friend Dexter Jettster who is able to identify that the 'kyber' dart originated on the planet Kamino. Obi-Wan goes to the Jedi library and consults with the librarian Jocasta Nu who tells Obi-Wan more of the mysterious Count Dooku. They search the archives but find no record of Kamino. Obi-Wan seeks assistance from Master Yoda, who is busy training young Padawan. Yoda instructs Obi-Wan to go to Kamino and investigate.
Meanwhile, on Naboo, Anakin and Padmé visit the new ruler of the Naboo, Queen Jamillia to discuss the events of the past few days. Once that is complete they find time to rekindle their friendship and a spark of love is ignited between them. They spend time together at the Naberrie retreat where Anakin confides in Padmé that he has feared for the safety of his mother, who he has not scene since he left Tatooine 10 years earlier. Padmé agrees to accompany Anakin to Tatooine in search of his mother.
On Kamino Obi-Wan learns that the Kaminoans have been busy preparing a clone army, under the belief that it has been sanctioned and ordered by the Jedi on behalf of the Republic. He is showed classrooms and training facilities where hundreds, if not thousands, of clones learn and train. Obi-Wan reports his findings to Mace Windu and Yoda, who instruct him to try and find out more. Later Obi-Wan meets the 'template' for the clones, a man named Jango Fett. He also meets the mans son, Boba Fett, who is actually a clone of Jango.
On Naboo Padmé and Anakin return to see Queen Jamillia again, requesting the use of a ship to transport them to Tatooine. THIS IS NOT THE NUBIAN FROM EPISODE-I. Jamillia grants them the loan of a craft and the pair, along with R2-D2 depart.
Once they arrive at Tatooine they head into Mos Espa in search of Watto. They eventually find the now bankrupted junk dealer who informs them that he had to free Shmi some years before to pay off his depts. She is now married to a man named Cliegg Lars and they live across the Dune Sea, near Mos Eisley. The pair travel to the Lars homestead.
Anakin meets Cliegg Lars, his new step brother Owen Lars, Beru Whitesun and a still-uncompleted C-3PO. Cliegg sits in a hovering wheelchair. Anakin then asks about his mother. About a month before Shmi went out to repair some moisture vaporators on the outskirts of the farm. While she is out there, a tribe of Tuskens attack, beat her and carry her off captive. When she does not return to the farm, Cliegg formed a large rescue team to find Shmi, but they were attacked by the Tuskens. Only Cliegg was able to escape, although terribly injured and eventually restricted to a wheelchair. Anakin heads out into the desert in search of his mother, ignoring the protests of Padmé.
Obi-Wan is trying to discover more about Jango Fett, however the bounty hunter attacks Obi-Wan and a huge fight ensures. The fight is brutal, taking place on the landing pads of the Kaminoan city. Jango eventually escapes aboard his ship, the Slave 1. Obi-Wan manages to secure a beacon to the ship and rushes to his starfighter to give chase. Jango heads for an asteroid belt, Obi-Wan gives chase but Jango manages to elude him, or so he thinks. Jango exits the belt and heads for Geonosis. Moments later Obi-Wan exits the belt also and tracks Jango via the seeker.
Obi-Wan eventually arrives at Geonosis, two Trade Federation Battleships. He manages to evade these ships and land on the planet. He makes his way through the rocky terrain, at one point having to deal with an attack by a Massif. He discovers that the planet is the staging ground for the construction of huge numbers of battle droids and super battle droids. Obi-Wan contacts the Jedi Council to inform them of this discovery.
Obi-Wan then sends a message to Anakin, relayed via his droid to R2-D2. The message is cut off before it is complete and Obi-Wan is captured.
On Tatooine Anakin has finds the Tuskens who hold his mother, they drop her and run. Anakin is reunited with her, but she dies in his arms. Incensed by this, Anakin hunts down the Tuskens and wipes out there entire camp.
**It is possible that the Tuskens did not actually attack Shmi but where helping her. Her attacker may well have been....... Another.
At the Lars Homestead Padmé spends her time giving C-3PO coverings. Owen is with here and may have helped her complete the job. R2-D2 receives the incomplete message from Obi-Wan and plays it to Padmé
Some time later Anakin returns to the Lars farm. He tells Padmé, Owen, and Cliegg about the death of Shmi. There is some arguing between Cliegg and Anakin, who blames himself for the death of Shmi. Later, when they are alone, Anakin confesses to Padmé what he did at the Tusken settlement.
Padmé shows Anakin the completed C-3PO and the message from Obi-Wan. Anakin contacts the Jedi Council and is instructed by Mace Windu to stay with Padmé and guard her. Anakin tells Padmé that he can not go to the aid of Obi-Wan as his instructions are to guard her. Padmé informs Anakin that SHE is going after Obi-Wan and the only way to follow the councils orders is to go with her. Owen gives Threepio to Anakin and the they depart Tatooine, enroute to Geonosis.
On Coruscant a meeting between and number of Senators and Palpatine is held. After some lengthy discussions they agree to propose the Clone Army.
On Geonosis Anakin and Padmé are arguing about just how they are to proceed. The eventually leave the ship and attempt to locate Obi-Wan, however they almost immediately discovered by Count Dooku and his minions, after a brief fight they surrender to Dooku. They are taken to a conference room and then to the Arena.
Meanwhile R2-D2 and C-3PO leave the confines of the ship and enter the complex. The wander the complex and eventually stumble upon a huge assembly line where the battle droids are being produced.
Anakin and Padmé are reunited with Obi-Wan as they are placed at the center of the arena, tied to posts. They are to be fed to three large creatures who are released into the arena. Somehow Obi-Wan manages to free himself, using the claws of one of the creatures to break his chains. Padmé manages to clime to the top of her pole using the chains like a lumberjack. Anakin also frees himself and leaps onto the back of the reek, using his chains as reigns.
As Count Dooku watches the events in the arena, from his VIP box, there is a flash behind him and one of his guards goes down. Mace Windu creeps up on Dooku, believing he has the upper hand, he has the hilt of his Lightsaber against the throat of Jango Fett. Hundreds on Jedi start to enter the arena. Dooku just smiles, for the Jedi are already being surrounded by Thousands of Battle droids. The smile falls from Mace's face and Jango takes this opportunity to strike. Mace and Jango duel it out.
The battle ensures, but the Jedi are being overwhelmed. Anakin and Obi-Wan grab Lightsabers that have been dropped by fallen Jedi, they start to battle there way across the arena. The make their way to the hanger area, searching for Dooku.
A small contingent of Jedi, led by Ki-Adi Mundi are trying to sneak about the Droid Control Ship which has landed on Geonosis. They eventually do get aboard and shut down the controls, however the droids battle on. It was not the real control ship.
Meanwhile Jango and Mace have fallen from the VIP box to the arena floor and are battling AND trying to protect themselves from the Reek. Eventually Mace decapitates Jango Fett. However the Jedi are loosing and many are dead. From the sky six giant assault/attack gunships descending into and around the arena. Upon landing, thousands of CLONETROOPERS emerge from these six ships. Yoda is with them. With laser blasters firing on the now outnumbered droids, the sides even up somewhat and the huge battle rages on.
Anakin and Obi-Wan engage Dooku, but he is far too powerful for the Jedi and slowly beats them down, Anakin looses an arm in the process. Eventually Yoda comes to their aid and impressively beats Dooku. However Dooku manages to escape by using the Force to drop a crane onto the two fallen Jedi. Yoda catches to crane with the Force, but this gives Dooku enough time to escape in his Solar Sailor.
Padmé appears and rushes to Anakin's side.
Some time later we see Dooku's ship arrive at a deserted part of Coruscant. Dooku meets with Sidious to inform him that the war has begun.
The Jedi Council has been depleted, many Jedi are dead. The remain council members meet to decide how to proceed. Their mood is somber.
On Naboo Anakin is recovering. In a discreet ceremony he marries Padmé.
On Coruscant Chancellor Palpatine and a number of others watch as thousands of Republic clones march beneath them, boarding massive troop carrying ships.
The Clone Wars have begun.
